About this deal

We are all familiar with traditional slot-head screws, which require a flat-bladed screwdriver, and cross-head screws, which might be Phillips or Pozidriv. But there are many additional, specialised screw-types including Torx screws. What is a Torx Screw?

Torx screws are typically used in vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, computer systems, hard disk drives and consumer electronics. The unusual star-shaped head makes them far more secure than regular flat-head or cross-head screws and allows higher torque transmission so screws and bolts can be tightened more securely. Torx Screwdrivers A successor to the original Torx design was Torx Plus, introduced in 1990. This design made improvements on the original which enabled higher torque to be applied while minimising wear. If you ever have to take apart a phone or other device you will probably come across at least one screw which won’t budge. This can be very frustrating and annoying! But instead of getting out a Dremel to remove the pesky screw, try a few simple things first. Gently tap the screwdriver with a small hammer to try and loosen it. Or if the head is a bit damaged you can try using a rubber band in-between the screwdriver and the head of the screw. This will hopefully provide a bit more friction to help remove the screw. What size is a T8 screwdriver? Torx is a certain type of screw head which looks like a star. If you have ever tried to take phones or other electronic devices apart then you have no doubt seen lots of these. There are various different sizes of Torx head which range from T1 right up to R100. One of the most common types of Torx is the T8 which is generally used on consumer electronics and computers. All our products are very competitively priced... but more importantly, we believe they offer you the Very Best Value!Precision screwdriver set, ideal for working with small screw slots. Bi-material soft-grip handles designed for comfort. Torx screwdrivers have distinctive 6-point star shaped head which mate perfectly with appropriately sized screw heads. The unique Torx design means that there is less likelihood that the screw head will be stripped or the screwdriver damaged. Torx screwdrivers can last up to ten times longer than regular screwdrivers due to the resilience of the design. Fast Reliable Service... your goods will normally be delivered within 1 to 3 working days - call us if you need them urgently! There are lots of different sizes of Torx bits, it’s a good idea to buy yourself a set which includes all the common sizes. T3 – T10 will be enough for most people, and then you can add additional size bits as and when you need them. It’s useful to have a set since it can be very frustrating if you don’t have the right size bit for the screw you are trying to remove! Using a Torx T8 Screwdriver Torx is the trademark for a type of screw head, developed by Camcar Textron in 1967. It’s characterised by a distinct, 6-point star-shaped pattern and is often called a ‘star screw’ that requires a ‘star screwdriver’ with a ‘star bit’ to tighten and untighten them.
