About this deal

ubarose wrote: Thanks for the review. I enjoyed Clank!, but Clank! In Space really took it to the next level. Other than the legacy expansion, my hunch is that we’ll see at least one other expansion, possibly two more. I would be surprised if Renegade and Dire Wolf don’t release a second Expeditions expansion, and I also think it’s possible that we’ll see a new large expansion in the vein of Sunken Treasures and The Mummy’s Curse. Though there is scope for tactical subtlety, Clank! in Space is a game that's easy to teach and learn.

I should say, I haven't yet seen any pacing issues with regular Clank. There certainly seems to be an ability to rush in there, but maybe our family is too bad to figure it out, or too greedy to make a dash for it like that. The map itself only starts as a couple of spaces and is only opened up once a player needs to leave the current tile they are on. That player then chooses a tile at random, first from the purple starter tiles and then from the blue tiles, and places them in any rotation that they would like. Sometimes the placement of the tiles can help you but, at other times they can divert you in ways you would not expect/hope for. These can be a fun way to mess with the other players too without being overly aggressive or upsetting for them. Once you have got your artifact/s you may leave the dungeon at any point and when you do each turn where you would have played your cards then becomes a turn for the dragon to draw Clank instead. So, once one player leaves it becomes more and more chaotic as everyone else tries to escape before they die. If you excape from the dungeon you recieve a plus 20 point token, if you finish on a purple tile when you die you still get to count up your points but, if you die in a blue zone you are dead and finish with 0 points. Final Thoughts Clank! sees its heroes venturing into the dark depths of the dragon Nictotraxian’s subterranean dungeon. Nictotraxian is the most dangerous creature in the realm, but the opportunity to steal her treasure is too tempting to pass up! Grab at least one artifact before booking it for the exit. Naturally, the most valuable artifacts are deeper down in the depths. Combat: Used to defeat monsters in the dungeon row (defeating monsters gives rewards of various resources) or monsters in tunnels. Some cards also cause you to stumble or otherwise make a sound (Clank!, geddit?). These require you to contribute a cube of your colour into what will eventually be a ‘boss bag’ from which cubes are drawn to dish out damage. In the original Clank!, the bag represented the dragon whose treasure horde was being robbed by the players; in Clank! in Space, the bag represents ‘Lord Eradikus’ – who is essentially the dragon in all but name. Arrive Choice. These new cards present options to all of the players when they arrive in the dungeon row. Sometimes it will be a choice of spending gold for a benefit which you can refuse or sometimes it will be a choice between two options, at which point every player must choose one of the options but they don’t have to be the same as each other. It’s My Party And I Will Bring Unique Powers If I Want To When the 10th damage icon is placed on the second player, the player has left the dungeon. They do not need the artifact to exit.

If a player hits 10 damage, one of two things happen. If they're in the subterranean part of the dungeon, below the grassline, they die in the dragon's jaws. This means they're out of the game and get no points. If a player is above ground, however, daring villagers manage to save you and you can keep all the points you've gained up to that point. The end of the game The #1 Reddit source for news, information, and discussion about modern board games and board game culture. This information from the publishers is the best glimpse we have into the world of Clank! Legacy so far: There is a mechanical sub-theme in some of the new cards, as well. Several cards give powerful effects when discarded, which gives you some excellent options for resource-gathering and hand-filtering with base game cards and some new discard enablers. Since its premiere in 2016, Clank! has become a beloved and popular board game line, with 15 releases across core games and expansions. It's been many years since I read the Hyperion/Endymion books, so time for a re-read this winter. Simmons was doing a science-fiction Canterbury Tales, but brought lots of bold ideas to the table. I... A new market item is available which is an ‘Invisibility Cloak’ which allows you to pass through tunnels whilst ignoring any monsters that are there. It is also worth five points at the end of the game. Party Invitation The second large expansion for Clank! was released in 2018, taking players out of the briney deep and thrusting them into the equally inhospitable Egyptian tombs. In The Mummy's Curse, players have a roaming mummy to battle as they run around the interior of pyramids and sphinxes. While the gold they can gain may be more tempting than ever, they need to watch out for painful curses... If you’ve never played Clank! before, my hope is that this article will give you everything you need to jump right in. If you like the game but you’re wondering what expansions to go for next, then you’ll also find the information you need here. What is Clank!? The Basics and Core Mechanics If you die in the subterranean levels or without an artifact, you’re completely dead. You lose all your points. If you ‘die’ above ground, helpful villagers will save you! You’ll keep the points you’ve gained so far, but you won’t get the 20 point bonus given to any player who gets out unscathed.
