I liked how the investigation was carried out - investigation is after all a painstaking process of analyzing facts, interviewing or interrogating people, lying in wait -- mostly using your brains and testing your patience. The author did try in this respect. The obligatory and somewhat preedictable attempt at misdirection was also there. After reading until the 8th installment I know by now how many victims there are gonna be, how Hunter will solve the case and that he will go and face the killer on his own. I would like a surprise like a victim gets away and spoils the killer's plans, Hunter's partner is the one that solves the case or is the one facing the killer in the end or anything that will be different.

This book introduced a secondary female character, Alice Beaumont, that matches Robert's genius mind. At first, I think that she will be quite interesting as love interest for Robert. But as the story goes, I don't like that Alice seems to take the spotlight from Garcia, Robert's partner. I like Robert and Garcia's camaraderie and friendship ... and I feel like it is a bit missing. I even miss Anna, Garcia's wife.internet σκηνές βασανισμού, τις οποίες έχει επιλογή το κοινό να ψηφίσει! Auch wenn mich das Buch von Anfang, trotz der gefühlten Längen gut unterhalten hat kam für mich erst recht spät ein wirkliches Spannungsgefühl auf. Erst zum Ende hin zieht das Tempo deutlich an und lief auf einen für mich sehr spannenden Showdown hin. Throughout this series the crimes explored are extremely disturbing. It's just great stuff though as it is realistic, phenomenally written and full of twists and turns. I wish that I had been able to hold off a little longer, because I would still be excited about it, and not as disappointed as I am.

Me ha gustado un poco menos que el primero. Tiene algunas cosas que se pueden perdonar en un primer libro, pero que ya en el segundo molestan un poco más. Espero que en los siguientes eso vaya cambiando. De schrijfstijl is wederom erg prettig, net zoals de korte hoofdstukken! Ik moet wel eerlijk zeggen dat ik het tweede deel van de serie nog steeds het allerbeste vind, maar ook dit verhaal stelt je zeker niet teleur als je van bloederige moorden houdt. Ook het einde vond ik zeker verrassend. Ik had de dader deze keer niet geraden, dus pluspunten!

Tracy's personality felt flat and I didn't like her style either or to be honest anything about her. Besonders schön empfand ich auch die Szenen und die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Hunter und Garcia, ein Ermittlerteam, die sich einfach mögen und sich unterstützen anstatt sich zu battlen🤗

Later, Robert comes to know that all the victims were killed in ways that they most feared. Also, it turned out that the worst nightmares of all the victims had come true. The most important question that bothers Robert Hunter is that how did the killer each of the victims and what was the link between all those random victims?

Broadcasting live on the internet, this serial killer asks the general public to vote on which more horrific manner of death they want a total stranger to undergo. And vote they do. Human beings voting to see a horrific death.

The plot is fantastic, paced well from the start, the dialogue is great, the characters really shine, the story reveals itself bit by bit but you really are kept guessing for the majority of the book, no clues as to the killer's identity or indeed if Robert Hunter is going to get even close to capturing the killer in time before more and more lives are lost in this most barbaric of ways.
