About this deal

While I’ve worn the sh*t out of these things over the past few weeks, the real test will be whether they perform as well over the long haul.

The Captains come in two soles: the standard Thursday Studded Rubber Sole you see above and the StormKing Rubber Lugged Sole. Studded Rubber Sole Guys who want to try before they buy; this is a direct to consumer company, so you need to have them delivered before you can try them. That said, they have free delivery and exchanges, so it’s not too risky. Nowadays I wear them at least once a week during the cooler months (which here in Toronto means September to April), so they’re still getting quite a bit of usage. The Captain is the more popular boot and therefore is available in more leathers and more experimental offerings too, like the vaguely orange Burnt Ginger or the Midnight Blue Suede (above). Typically, those kinds of colors will wind up as options for the Captain. That’s a bit of a generalization, but you’ll find more experimentation going on with the Captain than on the President boot, generally speaking. Wrapping UpOver time, these have kept their shape well and the heel slip disappeared within the first month. They were stiff at first, which is to be expected with all boots, but if you go with your standard size you’ll likely get an excellent fit on the first try.

Walking around, the arch support felt good. I’m not an outdoorsy type so I can’t really speak as to how they’ll perform on a hiking trail, but the Dainite-like outsoles provide pretty good grip in suburban environments. Thursday Captains Durability I loved how the brown color had a slight tinge of burgundy, giving the boot a deeper and richer look. What counts as re-sellable? Imagine how you’d like your new boots to look when you open the box: that’s how you should return yours. After doing a deep dive into reddit (which is always dangerous), my main take away is that guys who want a great-looking boot that’s better constructed than the type of cheap shit you get at places like Aldo love Thursday Boots. But since most of my walking/boot wearing happens on city sidewalks (as opposed to nature trails or rougher terrain), Ineither need nor want to invest in boots that are constructed tolive longer than the pyramids. I recall minor rubbing the first two days, but afterward, they were comfortable like sneakers. Thursday Captain Storm King Review EVA stands for Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate, a lightweight polymer that’s lighter and more flexible rubber, which adds a nice layer of padding that makes the Captains comfortable, even when standing. But guys who want a boot that’s expertly made first and fashionable only second (if at all), tend to bethink that Thursdaysdon’t match the quality of some of the more expensive industryleaders. This is Thursday Boots’ flagship model. Like most of Thursday’s catalog, these are made in Mexico. The Captain is super versatile and works well with almost any casual outfit. Here are some reasons why you should or shouldn’t buy the Captain. Pros of the Thursday Captain
