About this deal

Normally when you get instructions with some electronic device you immediately ignore them for the dull booklet they are; not so with the Sonic, The Wand Company attention to detail strikes again and they unfold into a large sheet with clearly written instructions on how to use the Sonic on one side and a blueprint style poster on the other… Character Options is delighted to announce a brand-new exclusive for its iconic Doctor Who Collection, as the Fourteenth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver (first seen on preview day at San Diego Comic-Con on 19th July 2023) is now released for sale at www.character-online.com.

This is the first Sonic to have 4 light modes and four sound FX. The model has been designed as a replica from the Series 9 Prop. The Twelfth Doctor had the final version of this model, and decided he was over sonic screwdrivers altogether! the twelfth doctor dons his sonic specs in the zygon invasion. Ensuring all fans have the chance to own this special piece, Character Options is delighted to confirm its availability online and for this anniversary year, is this very same Special Edition of the Fourteenth Doctor’s new sonic device available at San Diego Comic Con, available for sale and immediate delivery now. As rivets were not needed in the Sonic Screwdriver URC design, to keep manufacturing costs down, fake brass rivet features were incorporated into the lower cage moulding. The Doctor has regenerated, and he has a new Sonic screwdriver! Accompanying David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor in the 60th Anniversary specials, this sonic has a new but familiar form, just like the Doctor! Due to cost constraints, the handle could not be made in leather. The real prop also has a protruding button which Matt Smith uses to make the tip glow. The Sonic Screwdriver URC does not have this button, because as it is never shown in the TV show we did not think that it was intended to be part of the overall look of the device. There is no end cap with secret button

The Doctor didn’t replace the sonic for ages – the next time we saw one was when the Seventh Doctor used a similar model to seal a casket containing the Master’s remains. Al Dewar, Head of Product Development, commented: “Since the announcement of David Tennant’s return as the Fourteenth Doctor, I think it’s safe to say fans have been a wee bit keen to know much more about this as yet unseen iteration of the Sonic. Its look and function have been (rightly) entirely shrouded in mystery, and now with this Doctor’s essential accessory is officially unveiled, it’s a pure delight for us to confirm that in partnership with the BBC and Bad Wolf Studios, we have been able to produce a really different and special version of this absolutely beautiful sonic. This second Sonic for the Twelfth Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi, was ‘gifted’ to him by the TARDIS itself after his previous version was lost. As all fans would know, the Doctor has carried many Sonic Screwdrivers of various designs throughout his lifetimes, ranging from a simple silver coloured tube to more complex illuminated and articulated versions. The Wand Company’s classic, Eleventh Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver universal remote control is a beautifully designed and highly detailed working replica of the Eleventh Doctor’s iconic gadget. It has been carefully fabricated from a mix of copper plated die-cast metal, engineering plastics and soft-touch, leather-effect, thermoplastic rubber to give a truly realistic product. This is perhaps the most noticeable difference between the hero prop and The Sonic Screwdriver URC. The Sonic Screwdriver URC has to come apart so that the batteries can be changed. To avoid unsightly parting lines and fixing screws showing on the outside of the Sonic Screwdriver, the ideal place for this was in the middle, and the cover ring was used to hide the join. This provides an elegant solution but means that the cover ring has to taper less than this feature on the original prop. Battery Requirements: Requires 3 x 1.5V A76/AG13/LR44 Button Cell Batteries. (Demonstration Batteries Included). The metallic parts are manufactured using a diecasting process rather than being individually hand machined, as a result the shape of the clasps, the upper and lower cage have been changed slightly to make them possible to cast. The War Doctor also used a modified version of this sonic during the Time War, but had swapped the emitter head for a more simple light-up one. the war doctor TARDIS connections

Rubbertoe Replicas is pleased to present a faithful replica of the brand-new Fourteenth Doctors Sonic Screwdriver, designed for the regenerated Fourteenth Doctor, played by David Tennant. The Fourteenth Doctor’s Sonic was principally designed by Doctor Who Props Art Director Michael Van Kesteren, with input and guidance from Production Designer Phil Sims. The Sonic Screwdriver comes in a moulded-foam lined protective instrument case, which also houses the charging cable, manual and die cast metal display stand. For the first time, the user could control the sonic telepathically by just thinking of a function, rather than having to input the required setting manually. It still didn’t work on wood, though! The TARDIS was kept busy creating replacement sonics, as the Eleventh Doctor lost or destroyed it in ever-more inventive ways – it was even eaten by a shark once! the eleventh doctor scans stonehenge in the pandorica opens. Sonic sunglasses! Al Dewar, Head of Product Development, commented: “Since the announcement of David Tennant’s return as the Fourteenth Doctor, I think it’s safe to say fans have been a wee bit keen to know much more about this as yet unseen iteration of the Sonic. Character Options is proud to present the new Sonic screwdriver in toy form! It features light and sound FX as well as an opening and extending action – all operated from a single button on the handle. The original prop does not produce sound. The sounds that you hear when the Tenth Doctor is using the Sonic Screwdriver in the TV show are sound effects, added after the filming has finished in the post-production stage. Once, the Doctor even popped a mirror on there to hypnotise an angry beast. Another attachment was handy for reversing the polarity of the neutron flow, which was this Doctor’s go-to plan for dealing with all sorts of problems Ensuring all fans have the chance to own this special piece, Character Options is delighted to confirm the latest Online Exclusive and for this Anniversary year, is this very same Special Edition of the Fourteenth Doctor’s new sonic device and is available for sale and immediate delivery now. The main body of David Tennant’s screen-used prop is attached to the Sonic Screwdriver structure by three screws. On the original prop, these are painted to match the main body colour. For the Sonic Screwdriver URC, these screws are not necessary and so have been omitted from the design. Slider Heading into the 60th Year of Doctor Who it seemed entirely fitting that the Fourteenth Doctors Sonic Screwdriver was given an exciting exclusive unveiling to fans on the Doctor Who Booth at the San Deigo Show!

The handle isn’t made from leather The Sonic Screwdriver URC tip is made from a solid translucent colour injection moulded polycarbonate. The colour is a close match to the prop, but does not have the original lighter swirling pattern in it. The shape of the clasp assembly, and the upper and lower cage This new toy version is a faithful recreation of the current Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver which debuted in the Series 9 Episode ‘Hell Bent’.Its seamless construction mimics that of The tenth Doctor’s own hero prop and the slide-to-extend action opens the Sonic Screwdriver with the most authentically satisfying operation. Press the slide mounted button for instant action in FX Mode, and access 10 different sonic buzzes, beeps and scanning sounds from the universe of Doctor Who.
