V. RECORD" on the label, because the Promotone company was founded only a few months (in September 1971, exactly, in Amsterdam, Netherlands) after the album "Sticky Fingers" was released (April 1971). This is easily The Stones high water mark and one of the greatest albums ever recorded from back to front, first track to last. Everything seems to gel so great from Mick Taylor's astounding guitar work to Mick Jagger at his peak as a vocalist. Sticky Fingers” was also the first album to feature the new guitarist Mick Taylor, who replace Brian Jones who had to leave the band because he had a serious drug problem. At the time the band was busy and toured almost the whole year, so they recorded on tour and the album was recorded in various studious around the world between 1969 and 1971.

Mick Taylor makes his presence felt in a big time way, as he churns out one of his most effective, yet understated solos during his all-too-brief tenure with the group. My copy came nice and flat and well centred but had some odd marks which did not come out even after a VPI clean. To be honest, even though I very rarely listen to the band anymore, whenever I do I take this off the shelf. The album is as I said a collection of great songs and often mentioned as the band’s ultimate studio record. The song is offensive on so many levels, but the riff is so intoxicating that these issues become mere trifles before Charlie Watts even attacks his drum kit. I think this is a fault across a large batch of the pressing and they're now selling off the faulty ones dirt cheap. Late 60's - early 70's sound) but sometimes peaking and saturating the original master (at least on my copy), which I personally like but it is nice to hear a different approach which still sounds nice - and some nice surprises there with more details coming out which give a different dimension to the recording, a more immediate being in the studio with the stones experience. It is followed by one of the most affecting and compelling proto-power ballads in "Sway," an easy contender for the crown of "Most Underrated Rolling Stones Track.Keith Richards' go-to rhythmic shuffle is complemented by some of Mick Jagger's most tawdry lyrics to date. I only bought the deluxe because I got a good deal but anyone looking for a great copy of this album could go with just the standard version since it is pretty inexpensive. The Stones recorded 22–31 March 1969, 2–4 December 1969 and 17 February – 31 October 1970, released it on 23 April 1971 on their new, and own label Rolling Stones Records.
