About this deal

You really should take some time to get to know what it is you will be gazing into, before you gaze into it using some fairly pricy equipment. This award winning Telescope has generous 130mm aperture optics that will reveal fine detail in Solar system as well as deep sky objects. The Sky-Watcher Explorer range are standard Newtonian reflectors of excellent quality and versatility. Whether your interest is Deep-Sky, the Moon and Planets, or a combination of both, the Explorer 130 offers excellent all round Diffraction-Limited performance.

Once you introduce the Barlow lens into the equation, you’ll likely observe false color on some night sky objects. It’s worth borrowing a friend’s telescope, or popping along to a local astronomy club to try before you buy, as it were. This way you can also get a feel of what you like and don’t like, and start to get an idea about the best telescope for you to invest in.And if you want to take pictures of what you’re seeing with your camera phone, there’s a built-in eyepiece shutter release cable so all you need to do is plug in any standard USB cable (not included) and press the button on top of it. Your phone will be able to capture images through the eyepiece without having to remove it from its holder! For a beginner scope, a light-gathering aperture size of 130mm is adequate. It gathers 30% more light than 114mm scopes, which enables you to see more details on even faint deep sky objects. Perhaps you already have a bit of experience and want to move up in terms of quality and stability so you can look at the objects out there in the vast universe a bit more clearly? Can’t get enough sharpness with your current telescope? First off, I think the fact that it comes with a motorized equatorial mount, notwithstanding its affordable price, gives it massive bonus points from the onset.

The manual’s language and descriptions could have been worded better, but it suffices to help you through the setup process. So it’s advisable to use the counterbalance bar and weight in both altazimuth and equatorial modes Red dot finder Finderscope – Red dot finder: It also comes with a basic 6 x 24 red dot finder. I’ve heard some astronomers talk about the fit of the finderscope with the barrel. This means that once you’ve aligned the telescope on an object using the ‘horizontal’ adjustment (right ascension – RA) and the ‘vertical’ adjustment (declination – Dec.), it’s only necessary to make adjustments in the RA plane to follow the object as it traverses the sky. Sky-Watcher Explorer-130PS telescope: 5 best features Counterbalance bar and weightAt Rother Valley Optics, one thing we pride ourselves on is customer service and quality of our equipment. When we test your telescope, we will ensure that it is of the highest quality otherwise, we will reject the scope under our strict quality control and test another model for your peace of mind. One of the main values to look at when testing a refractor is the Strehl ratio. The higher this number, the higher quality lens you have. At Rother Valley Optics, we will guarantee the highest possible Strehl ratio for your telescope. We will aim to provide 0.95 Strehl or higher on Takahashi, RVO Horizon, William Optics and many more! Generally, the higher the Strehl ratio, the lower the Astigmatism and Coma meaning a better image quality from your instrument. In altazimuth (AZ) mode, the mount moves horizontally in a 360° circle (azimuth) and vertically (altitude) from the horizon to the zenith, the point in the sky immediately above the observer. Figuring out your surroundings is key – it’s no good getting a telescope that might not be suitable for your particular area, because you will only end up frustrated when you can’t see anything! In the Explorer 130 telescope, the secondary obstruction is 46mm. As a result, you may observe diffraction rings when observing night sky targets. With 900mm focal length it is easier to get higher magnifications which are needed to view the planets well, this version is better for planetary observation than the shorter P model but has a physically longer tube.

Sky-Watcher Explorer-130M (EQ2) 130mm (5.1") f/900 Motorised Newtonian Reflector Telescope. The Sky-Watcher EXPLORER range are standard Newtonian reflectors of excellent quality and versatility, ranging in aperture from a respectable 130mm to an incredible light-gulping 300mm aperture, catering for astronomers of all levels. Whether your interest is Deep-, the Moon and Planets, or a combination of both, the EXPLORER range offers excellent all round Diffraction-Limited performance. Tube material : Aluminium. It uses a Newtonian reflector design that employs a parabolic primary mirror to collect and focus the light, and a flat secondary mirror to reflect it to the eyepiece. As we all know, there is a vast amount of information out there about a huge range of different scopes. It can be really hard to whittle this down into “What is the best telescope for me?” Well, now you don’t have to whittle, because I have done it for you!

The telescope has a fixed mirror cell for the primary mirror, which is collimated at the factory so it’ll only require occasional adjustment to the secondary mirror, for which a suitable Allen key is supplied. A telescope’s aperture is the size or diameter of the main or objective lens. Aperture is the most important feature to consider when buying a telescope. A larger aperture means a brighter image, better details and the ability to see deeper into the sky. 3. How to make a telescope more powerful? How to increase the magnification of a telescope?

In terms of double stars, the 5" performs admirably, though partly location dependent and also dependent on local seeing. Good stars to look for at the moment I think are Mizar & alcor (don't forget Mizar b!) as well as Albireo and Algieba (which is setting presently, so catch it while you can!).
