About this deal

MU: The main goal of the new Wild was to have the same performance on the trail as a Rallon. So, starting from that point, we updated everything on the frame. The frame construction is completely different to tune the frame stiffness, also the bike is much lighter than the previous one. The geometry is similar to the Rallon, and the kinematics have been updated to have a bike that is more poppy and more fun on the trails. This, blended with the moderate reach and head tube angle, gives an effective top tube length that sits you in a reasonably upright position. This makes for a comfortable bike to pedal – especially welcome an ebike, where you spend most of your pedalling time sitting down. He confirmed for me that the rearcassette on the 20″ and 24″ wheel Wild Bike has a range of 11-32, which was the missing bit of information on the specification. Suspension-wise, Orbea has tweaked the leverage curve to give the 2023 Wild a more playful ride character. It has reduced the overall progression of the bike, increasing the mid-stroke support.

Weight of the Wild 16, including pedals, is 6.2kg. Compared to a listed weight (which will be without pedals) of 5.8kg. This is the same as what his friends Islabike Cnoc 14 weighed, like-for-likeStephen’s conclusion was “They do seem really good and I will recommend them as the new budget option. Build quality seems excellent and the staff I spoke to certainly rate them”. Wild Bike weights With geometry figures in the ballpark of most modern enduro bikes, e-bikes included, I felt right at home on the new Wild almost instantly. I lowered the handlebars one spacer, which put me in a position I preferred.

Until recently Decathlon’s kids bikes were all heavy steel framed affairs, but they’re been upgrading their range and the B’Twin 16 900is a great example of what they’ve managed to deliver. Thanks Jennifer – I hope you didn’t get too much of a telling off! It’s a pity that there is nowhere for kids to try these bikes out in-store, as being able to test ride a bike is usually an important benefit of buying in store, rather than online. Perhaps this is something Go Outdoors can think about providing in future. Next up Jim got in touch, to say “Just popped in to have a look at these bikes. Unfortunately they had sold the only 20 inch Wild Bike they had, which is the one that I was most interested in. I weighed the 18 at 6.8kg and the 24 at 9.4kg.”The BTwin 16 weighs in at 7.3kg, which is significantly lighter than most cheap 16 inch kids bikes at this price, or lower. The frame bearings use additional seals to prevent water and dirt ingress, also helping to reduce required maintenance of the bike.
