About this deal

Don’t ask me why that scene pops into my head when I use this product, it just does. This wax buffs smoothly onto wood, glass, porcelain, metal, and many more surfaces. I used my finger and gold leaf rub ‘n buff to dull the shiny “faux brass” to give it some age and create an antique or vintage look. These tiny tubes last a long time and can be used for multiple projects. You apply the metallic wax using a clean finger, a soft cloth, or a soft brush (paintbrush or makeup brush).

Basically, you can use it to refresh or change the tone of metal surfaces, and to add metallic details to furnishings and decor. I’ve tried it on both wood and metal, but I have not tried it on glass or plastic, though I’m sure it would work just fine on either! How do you used Rub-n-Buff? I personally have found that depending on the metallic color I choose to use, I have had to apply multiple layers of the wax paste to achieve my desired color. For very detailed pieces, I like to apply it with a small paint brush. I used a small brush to apply Rub n Buff European Gold to these old door hinges. Testing Rub n Buff Colors This color is a light silver that almost resembles aluminum foil! It’s perfect for painting metal objects like vases or picture framesYes, however, it can be removed with powerful cleaning solvents like mineral spirits and bar keepers friend.

Rub n’ Buff’s European Gold has a brighter, more yellow tone, while Antique Gold has a warmer, more brown tone. Antique Gold is better suited for creating an aged, antique look. Can I Mix Rub n’ Buff Colors to Achieve an Antique Gold Finish?Autumn Gold– I would call this bright copper instead of gold since it has such a strong presence of red undertone. It’s like a bright, new copper color without any aged patina. Yes, you can mix Rub n’ Buff colors to achieve a custom antique gold finish. Experiment with small amounts of different colors until you achieve the desired effect. Is Rub n’ Buff Waterproof for Outdoor Use?

As I mentioned, one of the reason I really like using Rub-n-Buff is that it’s so easy to apply: First you rub, then you buff. When testing out these colors, I made the rookie mistake of not sanding first like I normally do, so it made the “buffing” step next to impossible and resulted in a chunky, terribly textured, dull finish. Oops! I know better; I swear I do. Sanding is the secret sauce. That’s it! You don’t need to use any sort of top coat or protector with Rub-n-Buff, which also keeps the application process simple. Is Rub-n-Buff waterproof? Yes, Rub-n-Buff is permanent, so make sure you’re certain about your decision before you start applying! Like all paints and finishes, it can still be scratched or chipped, so take care with your finished surfaces. Apply a pea-sized small amount to a soft cloth or your finger (I wear latex gloves), and rub the wax onto any metal, wood, plastic, ceramic, or glass surface. Wait about 30 seconds before buffing with a soft cloth to create a shiny finish.
