About this deal

Said has extended his story with ‘The Outlaw’ - in which we meet the same cast of cats as the original, which a few extra felines to develop the world. After a while, they meet Razor, a member of Sally Bones' gang, and starts to hit on Holly, Varjak defends her, only to then be locked in battle, Holly brakes up the battle and Razor disappears. Varjak fights Sally Bones' gang and she swings on a rope to make the bell ring, so Varjak can catch his breath. There was some things in the book that wasn't explained however like how/why can sally bones live as long as she could ( I assumed she was actually an undead creature tbh but it wasn't stated that way anywhere in the story) , and the thing with holly at the end with her eye being the color it was? SF Said is the author of award-winning children’s books including Tyger, Phoenixand Varjak Paw – which featured in BookTrust’s list of 100 Best Children’s Books from the last 100 Years, and has been adapted for stage as well as studied as part of the national Key Stage 2 curriculum .

I originally read this book in physical form, and I also own a copy of the first book, where the illustration placement makes a lot more sense, and in general just looks better. So Sally Bones gradually evolved as I worked on the book, and became much more interesting, I think! g. confidently, nervously, excitedly, curiously, anxiously, to encourage children to change the way they are moving. I would love to see a prequel about Jelal, my memory is bad but I think I got the idea that Sally Bone was once his enemy as she had survived for a very long time before finally loosing to Varlak, I would love to read about their struggle. It was a little different to what I remember it being from when I originally read it 10+ years ago, but that doesn't mean it wasn't as good. this book is nearly twice as long as the first one, and the cast of characters is much bigger and more developed. When Holly fell down the vault I thought she died and felt sorry for her but when she was kept as prisoner by Sally Bones I was delighted she was alive.

Varjak unlocks the gate, with that, they try to get out, only to see that the two black cats are blocking the way, Varjak then attacks them, who almost kill him, but with Holly's advise to rip off their collars, when he rips off one, it falls to the ground, the other one then stares at it's counter-part, it then submits, sticking out it's neck, Varjak then snaps off the collar.

Soon the city erupts in an all-out gang war as the evil Sally Bones attempts to control the lives of all cats. After a while they begin to talk about the gangs which are living all around the city and mention one of Holly's friend who disappeared shortly after he joined a gang. In the meantime, if you haven't already read it, I hope you'll try my new book Phoenix - it's not about Varjak, but I think if you enjoyed Outlaw, you'll enjoy it too! Horrified and outnumbered, Varjak and the others must fight for their freedom or die trying; can Jalal's Way really be the best way? Varjak and his friends made it back to the city center, out of Sally Bones' territory, and they meet Cludge there.

I feel like the author doesn't really take the time to flesh out the story, but instead rushes things to the point where action scenes are like three pages long (which is the equivalent to five paragraphs, given the font size and layout of the novels). I honestly don't know what the answer is at this point, as I haven't started writing the third one yet, but I would say that anything is possible! It would be good, because I heard that you're writing the 3rd book about Varjak Paw, if you'd mention and include Varjak's family in it. We, of course, meet both old and new characters in Varjak's adventures, some good, some bad, and some a mix and match of the two. I thought I might be able to record myself reading it to them and sharing it within a secure app that we are using to upload work while they are at home. I would love to see SF deal with aging and mortality and the old warrior coming out for a final battle. Varjak is listening to the Elder Paw, who tells him a story about Jalal, the Mesopotamian Blue's ancestor who lived in The far-away land of Mesapotamia and was the first Blue who came to the Contessa's house.
