About this deal

The strains in the Smidge Optimal Probiotic capsules are sourced U.S., as is the production of the final product. Start low and slow: Smidge® supplements are premium, pure and potent. Therefore, it's critically important to start slowly, with a lower dosage than recommended. For example, a very small dose every other day, or even once a week, until you can determine how the supplement affects your body and what dosage feels right for you. Smidge recommends taking your probiotic with a meal or directly before the meal (around the same time daily). It's beneficial if the meal also contains some natural, organic fat or oil.

Optimal Probiotic capsules: Smidge® Optimal Probiotic is a gentle, thoughtfully formulated probiotic that’s appropriate for various ages and stages, whether you’ve taken probiotics in the past or are new to this integral part of your wellness regimen: A super clean, potent and therapeutic-grade probiotic for on-the-go. Smidge™ Sensitive Probiotic comes in a convenient little oral capsule, with the same GutPro® formula that's been a staple in your carry-on: Always start with a smidge! Use one Smidge® spoonful (20 mg). Take once a day, with food, or as directed by a certified healthcare practitioner. (See "low and slow" note below.) I recommend trying Smidge Infant if you are having severe digestive issues or severe D-lactate issues. It might be better tolerated with half of the probiotic being comprised of Bifidobacteria infantis (a well-tolerated strain), and the removal of L. plantarum which can produce some D-lactate during plateau phases of the growth cycle. 21 Pepsin and protease peptidase complex (with exopeptidase and DPP-IV enzymes) also support optimal protein digestion, as well as casein and gluten digestion.*

Comfortable and thorough digestion: Probiotics support a healthy digestive system and also play critical roles in helping the body break down and absorb nutrients. They even produce critical vitamins when the body is in need, like K2 and several B vitamins. And maintaining regularity (sans constipation or occasional diarrhea).* So you can go every single day with ease.* I do recommend probiotic supplements for some people to improve their digestive health, although the jury is still out on their efficacy and if they implant. Studies of people taking probiotic supplements show that CFU (colony-forming unit) amounts of probiotics cultured in their stool return to normal a few weeks after supplementation. These results indicate that taking probiotic supplements may not cause them to implant into the digestive tract’s mucosal layer and increase the overall amounts of probiotic bacteria in our microbiome. The ingestion of probiotics may only modulate the immune system and, in doing so, may benefit people greatly depending on the strain. For others, however, it may cause different immune reactions worsening their symptoms. In people with severe Th1 / Th2 dominance, it is hard for me to recommend Smidge or any probiotic supplement for that matter.

What I seek in a probiotic is (clinical) EFFICACY. Regarding GutPro®, it begs the question, what specific efficacy has GutPro® demonstrated? The company has done no clinical research on their ingredients and the formulation(s). The ingredients appear to be readily available off-the-library shelf ingredients. In fact, they have zero published studies for their GutPro® product(s). Not even small-sample (biased) studies. It appears they have no financial investment in documenting GutPro’s efficacy. So, what are they trying to protect by deflecting my inquiry? Introducing Smidge® HCl + Enzymes, for those who feel bloated, gassy, or have acid reflux after a meal.* So you can relax after eating and soak up all of the wholesome nutrients in your food. Smidge® Probiotic Capsules (formerly Primal Gut™) is essential for advanced gut health as this 13-strain blend helps to regenerate and maintain a healthy microbiome.Your body tells you… Unfortunately, some people have a hard time producing enough HCl. This is particularly true when you're older. People over the age of 65 years are most likely to have low levels of hydrochloric acid.[ 2] Always start with a smidge! Then take one capsule daily with food. Then take two capsules together, or as directed by a certified healthcare practitioner. (See "low and slow" note below.) Smidge® HCl + Enzymes contains (hydrochloric acid), an important ingredient for people with low stomach acid production. One of the leading probiotic supplements I have had success recommending is Smidge. The bacterial strains in Smidge do not produce histamine, and most of the strains do not produce large amounts of D-lactate. It is safe for most people that have those issues to take and hopefully gain the digestive benefits of taking a high quality probiotic supplement. Smidge powder is free of common allergens, including milk, casein, fish, shellfish, eggs, gluten, tree nuts, peanuts, corn, gluten, yeast, and soy. Smidge also tests each batch of probiotics for potency, strain integrity, and contamination. Smidge is also free of any prebiotics, which may cause negative digestive symptoms. Depending on the prebiotic, they may feed overgrowth, worsening symptoms. Bifidobacterium longum: One of the first bacteria to colonize our bodies at birth, B. longum has been associated with helping to digest milk and other challenging foods, as it produces lactic acid from the fermentation of sugar in the gut. Research suggests that B. longum may support immunity and growth in children. It’s also linked to helping maintain healthy cholesterol levels already within a normal range. And it’s been studied to help alleviate stress. Our Enzymes + HCl is the only digestive supplement on the market that combines a balanced dose of HCl and pepsin, along with vital enzymes that support stomach acid production and help digest protein, fat, gluten and casein.
