About this deal

I’m so delighted you’re here. I wrote this story in an online Barrelhouse workshop early in the pandemic, and my thought process went something like: Instead of selling the rights to their novels, publishers in China are launching their own production teams to adapt work for the screen.

When asked about the title of this series, Eleventh Finger, she said, “Well that refers to the unknown collaboration of the subject (with ten fingers), and me as photographer with one finger pressing the shutter release.” This year has witnessed the boom of the Chinese network drama, a new kind of television series only available from online platforms. From the Go Princess Go at the start of 2016 to the latest hit Medical Examiner Dr. Qin (known to fans as simply Dr. Qin), several network dramas have amassed followers nationwide. The bathroom smells wrong now. Mother’s favorite cotton day-dress is ruined. She looks down at her bloodstained hands and whispers to Father, “I look like a butcher,” but Morgan knows the truth: she looks like a Vampire Queen. This trend comes at a time when, according to a report by entertainment industry monitor Entertainment Capital, the cost of producing books in China — from the price of materials to editor salaries — is rising. Yet profits continue to narrow, as furious competition among online vendors drives down book prices. “There is a limit to the growth of book sales,” Bojitianjuan’s vice president, Guo Linyuan, said. “Developing film and television has given us a new means of making a profit.”

Author’s Note

Meanwhile, Sohu TV CEO Zhang Chaoyang holds the view that Dr. Qin is a good start for active explorations of in-house productions. For this series of surreptitious snapshots of strangers in the streets of modern metropolises, she created elaborate cut-out lace-like patterns of enigmatic shapes and symbols, which she then superimposed on the photographic paper before she exposed the enlarged prints.

After the huge success of Dr. Qin so far, Sohu TV has decided to continue the legendary story, green-lighting a second and third season. Filling a gap in the market — those with a thirst for forensic drama could previously only choose among foreign imports like CSI and Criminal Minds — the success of Dr. Qin suggests that CS-Booky was right to choose it as the first adaptation of its new drama production venture. Its performance has already surpassed the Bojitianjuan team’s expectations, said Guo, laying the foundation for a second season set to begin filming in April. The production company also has two feature films — a romance and a travel memoir — scheduled to enter production this year. Guo said that the success of Dr. Qin has also piqued the interest of new investors, though she could not specify figures or companies, as negotiations are ongoing.

CRAFT

Pioneering Professional Drama Dr. Qin is a pioneer of its genre. In comparison with the popularity of family, youth and spy dramas, the professional drama has long been ignored by Chinese TV producers. Medical Examiner Dr. Qin ( Chinese: 法医秦明) is a 2016 Chinese streaming television series adapted from the novel The Eleventh Finger (Chinese: 第十一根手指) by Qin Ming. [2] [1] It follows an investigative team consisting of medical examiner Qin Ming, his assistant Li Dabao and police officer Lin Tao as they solve mysterious criminal cases. [2] He can still see through his other eye,” Morgan says, adding silently, “why should you get to have an extra finger when Jasper doesn’t even get to have the usual number of eyes?” Childhood. Sisterhood. Rural pastoral. An eleventh finger. Horror. Right from the opening line of K.C. Mead-Brewer’s short story “The Angel Finger,” a finalist for the 2020 CRAFT Short Fiction Prize judged by Alexander Chee, we are hooked. Main character Morgan comes alive in generous and effective interiority, with a child voice written with love (see Mead-Brewer’s author’s note for Morgan’s wonderful origin story). She may have an evil streak and she’s very misunderstood by her family, each one collectively and specifically well-characterized, right down to Jasper the beleaguered dog. As the story progresses, we know we are in capable hands when another perspective takes shape and an omniscient narrator graces the piece with a storytelling voice just perfect in tone: “It could be said that, after all the screaming, there was nothing left to be said.”

Morgan,” her mother calls from behind the door. “Get some cloth from the craft room. A long strip.” The increasing availability and use of computed tomography (CT) in pediatric abdominal trauma has increased the detection of incidental findings. While some of these findings are benign, others may require further evaluation for possible clinical importance. The forensic doctor is a mysterious job in the eyes of most people. Delving into their hardships and professional working attitudes was the initial reason for producing the drama, according to Guo Linyuan, major producer of Dr. Qi. Morgan’s changed her mind. She doesn’t want to touch it anymore. She doesn’t want anything to do with it. She can still feel it round and wet against her butt and she hates it, she hates everything, she hates herself. She can’t breathe. She can’t. Her flat chest works up and down, but no breath’s getting in.Compared with other roles, it is a brand new field for me. I have done full preparations with the help of the book writer and forensic doctorS. And I truly thank them for their guidance in shaping me like a real forensic doctor in the drama," he said. It’s not a thumb; she knows that much. It looks like the angel finger, and maybe it is. Maybe it doesn’t matter. Either way, Angela’s down to ten now.

When she was younger, Arterton had polydactyly. That meant the actress had six fingers on each hand. For Arterton, the condition was unsurprising, given that polydactyly ran in the family. “My dad had them, and my grandad,” she revealed during an interview with Esquire. Arterton also never saw the condition as a problem. In fact, she embraced it, although not everyone around her has. “It's my little oddity that I'm really proud of,” the Bond actress remarked. “It makes me different.” The series is one of the most successful network drama on Sohu TV, with 1.5 billion views. [3] Considered as a pioneer of its genre, the series helped shed light on the profession of a forensic doctor by delving into their hardships and professional working attitudes. [2] It has been praised for its bold plots, tense storyline and good-looking performers. [2] The series was also ranked as one of the top 10 web dramas at the 2016 ENAwards. [4] Awards and nominations [ edit ] Year It’s the kind of advice a person can give if they’ve never started anything too difficult, or too risky. Or risky at all. What’s Mother ever chanced, Morgan wonders, aside from some papercuts? She wasn’t willing to chance a few mites for a butterfly. Wasn’t willing to chance the vet for her own dog. And all at once, Morgan knows: her mother will not save her.Mother doesn’t thank her for the cloth, only takes it and gently ties it around Jasper’s head like he’s a pirate or part of a biker gang. Father’s suddenly there in the doorway, just as the worst is over. You’re an idiot, Morgan,” Angela decides, turning to face the wall. “I can’t believe you blinded our dog.”
