About this deal

You have a range of different fittings to choose from. At LEDHut, we offer Fire Rated downlight fittings. These have been protected for up to 90 minutes and offer advanced thermal protection, preventing fire from spreading to ceiling, floors and loft space above. We also offer a Shower Rated downlight fitting which (surprisingly) are perfect for bathrooms as they guard against water entry. Both fittings come in different styles. Choose from white, chrome and brushed steel finishes depending on the look you want to go for (see below).

Your guide to LED drivers – LED Hut

The ~ sign indicates alternating current. Also, the minimum load is indicated as 10W. This is important when using LEDs Typically, LED drivers are limited to an upper level power output of 100W - 200W. This means that LED drivers are the power supply of choice for small LED lighting setups in the home, as individual LEDs may only require 2V - 4V DC. When LEDs are connected in a series - or ‘array’ - a much higher voltage is required. In this case, an LED transformer may be installed (e.g. to power a light strip). LED Transformers Circle with X in represents the light. It doesn't matter which way round the 12V lighting circuit goes, and it would appear that it supports up to 4 lights.Yes, the transformer has 4 outputs but the bathroom lights are actually pre-wired into a splitter so i only need to use 1 output on the transformer to the splitter if that makes sense? and a bridge rectifier composed of diodes to deliver DC to the LEDs from the AC transformer supply. Some LED lights, such as the DR450 by Brightgreen and the 10W Philips Master, The LEDs are too far from the transformer, resulting in voltage drop (the maximum distance is about 1.5-2m).

Some G5.3 bulbs are DC and some are AC and some it does not matter, most sold on high street it does not matter, but some are marked 50 Hz, so fitting a DC power supply often called a driver, is not always best option. Now the older magnetic transformers will work perfectly with LED MR16s. The issue is that the electronic low voltage transformers may not. The reason for this is that they need a minimum voltage to pass through them to operate; for example the transformer in my kitchen is 40w – 400w. Historically there were 6 50w halogen bulbs in the circuit – giving a total load of 300w. transformers output a high frequency switching signal ranging from approximately 37 kHz to 79 kHz, enveloped I know that GU10 LED 220V on a dimmer they should be sold as dimmable, but if you use MR16 12V with a dimmable driver, are 12V LED bulbs already dimmable and OK for say 3-12V?

The driver you need depends on how many bulbs you want it to power multiplied by the wattage. It’s also advised the total wattage of all bulbs combined doesn’t exceed 80% of the transformer’s wattage. So if you choose to power 4 x 4W MR16 bulbs (16W total) from one driver, you’ll need a 20W driver. If you want to power 4 x 6W MR16 bulbs, you’ll need a 30W transformer, and so on. Often extra low voltage (12 volt) is wired with twin core, it says "A circuit protective conductor shall be run to and terminated at each point in wiring and at each accessory except a lampholder having no exposed-conductive-parts and suspended from such a point." in the main MR16 lamps are not suspended so need and earth taking to lamp even if not used. The reason for describing the transformer as a ’driver’ in relation to domestic LED bulbs is that although the term ‘LED transformer’ has become a popular umbrella term for all drivers and transformers, the term ‘transformer’ should be reserved for larger LED lighting projects requiring a more powerful external supply (see below for further details). What is the difference between an LED ‘driver’ and an LED ‘transformer’?

Beauty Advent calendars are significantly pricier than chocolate ones, but they've become increasingly popular in the last few years as a way of bagging beauty products at a fraction of the normal cost. They often sell out early, but can also be heavily discounted later if they don't, so here's a round-up of some of the best I’ve seen. If you've got a Marcus easy-access savings account or cash ISA, you can easily boost your interest rate to 4.75% – here's how.
