About this deal

Fire Markerlights (Action): One or more MARKERLIGHT units from your army can start to perform this action at the start of your Movement phase. AIRCRAFT MARKERLIGHT units can perform this action. The action is completed at the start of your next Shooting phase. If this action is successfully completed, for each model in that unit that is equipped with one or more markerlights, for each markerlight that model is equipped with, select one enemy unit within 36" of that model that would be an eligible target for that model if its unit had been selected to shoot, and roll one D6: on a 3+, that enemy unit gains one Markerlight token.’ As for the drone’s abilities, there are some changes here too! Shield drones lost their 5+ FNP, however, the extra wound should more than compensate for that. The other big change is to Sniper Drones which lost the mortal wound rule, but now have -2 AP instead of 0! This book contains a complete army list for using a Tau army. Further special rules, equipment as well as this is included. Battlezone codices were rules supplements that dealt with a specialised combat environment, instead of an army. There was only ever one produced. However, material in Codex: Catachans provides rules for jungle warfare. The concept of a battlezone codex was replaced by Games Workshop's Expansions.

We saw rumors for these, but now Games Workshop has revealed a bunch of the new Tau Sept rules and how to make your own Septs. Given the species’ vigour and strength of will, being thrashed by servants of the Emperor of Mankinddidn’t leave the T’au particularly disheartened. Instead, the Ethereals set their Empire on an accelerated course for technological advancement, rapid expansion, and massive rearmament. We haven’t finished our guide to Kill Team Tactics: T’au yet, but we talked a little bit about the T’au and their new Tactics in our review of the Xenos factions in the Kill Team 2019 Annual. As with 40k 8th edition, T’au in Kill Team do best when supported by a large number of drones.

Descriptions of the T’au Empire’s military organisation, including an example expeditionary force, markings for 21 Septs and examples of team, helmet and battlesuit markings

Knowing I wanted to approach this with naturalistic tones, I started with something desaturated and with strong brown undertones. I decided in the end to actually start at brown, and then slowly work up to a bright highlight keeping a strong green tone through, and then wrapping it all together with a glaze. Other than the basecoat I kept my layers nice and translucent, using a thinner medium to do so. There is one flaw in the T’au’s armour, however: they have no psykers among their ranks. This means they’re not only unable to manipulate the Warp on the battlefield, but also have no astropaths – severely limiting their ability to move using faster than light travel. This book contains hobby information on: Building and painting your miniatures, colour schemes, what to collect, information on how each unit works and a showcase of models. These are two pretty interesting rules. The first will let you redeploy either forward, or just to reinforce a flank if you made some mistakes while deploying. Then, taking this off the board can be super strong if you really need to be somewhere completely different next turn. New Tau 40k Rules Datasheets & Rumors Leather: S75 Red Leather Nuln Oil S75 Red Leather 1:1 Red Leather/Pink Flesh S75 Pink Flesh (1:1 paint / lahmian medium) Signature Systems: 12 pieces of bleeding-edge weapon and artefacts, technology available exclusively to the T’au

How early? We’ll get to that, but it’s close enough that we’ve been able to get some markerlights trained on the cover so you can see the beautiful art right now. But the rulebooks’ release cycle was delayed on December 4 2020, when GW put the release of the Death Guardcodex on ice due to “unavoidable delays to crucial shipments”. That book finally arrived in late January 2021.

Civilian World

Diplomatic Excellence (Aura) : While a friendly DAL’YTH or T’AU AUXILIARY unit (excluding CHARACTER units) is within 6" of this WARLORD, add 1 to the Leadership characteristic of models in that unit.

When you look at a T’au model, you’ll no doubt note their sleek ranged weaponry, so you’ll probably not be surprised to learn that T’au armies in 9th Edition still excel during the Shooting phase. However, that’s no longer where the T’au army begins and ends. Unlike in 8th Edition, T’au are now much more flexible on the tabletop and, though they still perform best when shooting, they have many more ways to adapt and overcome obstacles. Each sept has an associated Sept Signature System. If your army is led by a T’AU EMPIRE < SEPT> CHARACTER WARLORD, you can give the relevant Sept Signature System to a T’AU EMPIRE < SEPT> CHARACTER model in your army instead of giving them a Signature System Relic. Named characters (such as COMMANDER SHADOWSUN) cannot be given a Signature System Relic. Each Sept is named after its Sept World, also known as Prime Planet or Capital Planet, from which the Sept is governed and is denoted by a different Sept Symbol and colour for each, often related to the unique culture of each Sept. [10b] [11] Marker Drones are potentially going to be more important now given that marker lights need to be constantly re-placed each turn, so expect a few more of those in games for sure. Pulse Accelerator Drone got completely changes from extra range, to an extra AP and now only affects pulse weapons, which seems like a good thematic change. This is a serious increase of both damage and AP from the last version, so nothing wrong with more firepower! For me it wasn’t quite popping. To give it a bright highlight I chose Temple Guard Blue, as it complements the green really nicely while being bright enough to jump out. I did some designs inspired by those of first people’s clothing and jewellery in the US (I’m sorry to say I didn’t note which people or tribe). That bright sharp blue I matched with a dark desaturated red (Khorne Red). I blended it to the cloak with a little Agrax. Credit: Lupe
