About this deal

You can really get years out of this sound machine. Lots of older children show signs of fearing the dark, so you have the option to keep the nightlight on all night long which can be so helpful. You also have a dimmer on the app so that the light isn’t quite so bright. It has the same “Wake up” feature to teach your kids what time in the morning they can get up and start the day. Sound Today, our 18-month-old sleeps in his own room. Each night at bedtime, we turn on the white noise, read a book or two using the night light, and then he lays down to sleep. Nine out of 10 nights he doesn’t make a peep, because his routine is soothing and consistent.

I love the ‘programs’ section. This allows you to set schedules for your child that you won’t even have to think about again. The 2 current programs we use are the nightly one from 7pm-7am. I have it set for “ocean waves” and no light. The second program I use is one to signify morning time. It runs for 5 minutes starting at 7:00am. It changes the noise from waves to birds and a blue light comes on. My son LOVES hearing the ‘birds’ and he knows that when he hears the birds, he is allowed to come into our room and come get us for the morning. Once you select the appropriate device (in this case the Rest), it will begin making a Bluetooth connection:Verywell Family / Kaity Velez Light Quality: Broad spectrum of shades, but could be distracting for some kids Rest Mini includes 1 free month of access to Hatch Premium, a snoozy library of content designed to help wind down, relax and get ready for sleep.

First of all, it can be controlled by an app on your phone – this means you don’t have to enter baby’s room to adjust the volume! That, my friends, is probably the best feature. The Hatch Rest is basically in its own category. Compared to our go-to, the Marpac Dohm Classic, the Hatch provides a wide variety of sounds. However, we personally prefer the real fan sound of the Dohm.

From The Manufacturer

Basically, you tap the ring with your finger to wake the device, and touch and hold your finger to the silver ring to put the device to sleep:

At first I was really hesitant about it, but I decided to opt for this regular version of Hatch Rest (I didn’t want to pay extra for the upgraded version). For my babies, who’ve always been light sleepers, it turned out to be really helpful and improved their sleeping pattern. Now they are all grown up preschoolers but still love their cute nightlights! Adjustability: Parents appreciate being able to control the volume level and sound options, as well as color for sound machines that double as night lights. Some additional adjustable features to look for are timers and options to sync with an app. While the machine will work without the app, functionality is limited, and really – don’t you love the option of using bluetooth to manage all the controls of your child’s nightlight?

I know for a fact that I would have been willing to pay thousands for something to make my older son sleep better! The Dohm is described as a staple in many parents’ homes for so many reasons. Instead of digitally recreating sound, it actually has a fan built in inside to produce white noise that many parents say sounds natural and unobtrusive. Plus, it can impressively drown out almost all outside noises — whether it’s coming from the street or other areas of your home — which may be one of the reasons many parents love it in their own rooms, too.

Does sleep come sparingly for you? Does it take forever to fall asleep or perhaps you are a light sleeper and wake with every sound in the night? Maybe you have a new baby and your home is a bit noisy. In these cases, many have turned to noise machines as an alternative to sleeping medications. Noise machines can aid in falling asleep and staying asleep for a restful, steady slumber. The Rest+ is an upgraded version of the original Hatch nightlight, with some additional features. Hatch Rest Plus Smartphone Control With Alexa Compatibility The color wheel makes it possible to basically choose any color you want, not just primary colors. Nice touch!

A Hatch First

I’ve heard about the Hatch Baby Rest from many parents while working as a sleep consultant, but I never really needed anything like that for my own son…until he started waking early (5:30-6am) once we transitioned him to a big bed. The biggest Con in my opinion is the inability to change the “scheduled program” once the current program is on…for example: If you have a schedule that starts at 6:55pm and it finishes at 6:55am, and instead of going off that early, you want to change it to 7:15am, the Hatch won’t respond to the new changes until the old cycle is through. It makes it really irritating for last minute changes to any schedule. A night light that does so much more: with different colors, time settings and even wake up options. 10 Light Settings After a month of testing, I can confidently say that the Rest+ offers a convenient way for busy parents to encourage children to go to bed (and wake up) at the right time, while still offering an element of fun for kids that won’t make them rally against sleep. You can set up the lights and noises directly on the device, but if your baby has been sleeping soundly for the past hour, do you really want to crawl into their nursery just to adjust the volume?
