About this deal

Lattissima One is more compact than the Gran model. This means it has a smaller capsule container capacity (8 vs. 14). However, the water tank capacity is the same for both machines — 34 oz. The milk system functions as on the Gran Lattissima, but the milk container is smaller (only 4 oz compared to the 17 oz). The Lattissima One is part of that first series (obviously), which is made up of 5 different models: Cheyenne Elwell is a freelance writer specializing in food and coffee. Her work has appeared in Business Insider, Insider, MSN, and her own coffee blog BakedBrewedBeautiful.com. She tested several of the Nespresso makers on this list in her own kitchen over the course of several works. Once finished with your coffee, cleanup is simple thanks to the item's self-cleaning function, which forces steam and hot water through the milk spout. Nespresso recommends using the cleaning function after every use. The Rapid Cappuccino System requires a little more upkeep; instructions say to remove it from the machine, disassemble its six parts, and place them in the dishwasher or wash them by hand. Some users report that the milk spout drips for a while after use, but we didn't come across this issue.

Gran Lattissima offers a simple-use system with various preset recipes, but if you want more control over your coffee, Nespresso Creatista Plus is a better option. It allows you to adjust coffee volume, milk temperature, and froth level. Every Nespresso machine is sorted into one of two categories: Original or Vertuo. Original machines focus on espresso and espresso-based drinks like lattes and cappuccinos, while Vertuo machines can brew espresso as well as larger drinks akin to standard drip coffee. If your drink requires milk or foam, hold the button again for at least 3 seconds and then release it once the desired amount of hot milk or milk foam has been dispensed. Also note, that this machine is easy to use, but the setup process can be time consuming. For example, it involves disassembling the Rapid Cappuccino System, washing its numerous components, drying them, and then re-assembling them. Every coffee pulled matched up to the quality of the other pricier machines on this list and while the milk froth might not be quite up to the standards of your barista, it does a good enough job of producing professional-style coffee in less than two minutes. Key specs – Weight: 3.5kg; Size (WDH): 13.6 x 42.6 x 25cm; Heat up time: 30 secs; Coffee sizes: Espresso, double espresso, gran lungo, mug; Maximum cup size: 80mm, 120mm (without drip tray); Water capacity: 600ml; Used capsule capacity: 8 The Nespresso CitiZ is designed to save space in the kitchen, measuring just 5.2 inches wide and 10.9 inches high. It's one of the smallest and lightest Nespresso makers sold today. We recommend purchasing the CitiZ in a bundle option that includes an Aeroccino3 milk frother. The addition of the frother provides a wider variety of drinks at a reasonable price; plus it doesn't take up much more space since the frother can be stored in a cupboard if need be. We spoke with Alex Payne, the manager of North American Public Relations for the non-profit recycling company TerraCycle, to learn more. He told us, "Waste-conscious consumers should be encouraged to brew coffee by the pot, but if they already have a coffee pod machine in their home, they can try reusable coffee pods that can be filled with their favorite ground coffee."

Finally, the only part of the machine that’s not so easy is the setup and the maintenance. The setup involves disassembling the Rapid Cappuccino System, washing all the components, drying, then reassembling the system and attaching it to the machine. Moreover, you’ll have to do this every time you clean the milk frothing system, which is fairly often (more in the maintenance section). Rapid Cappuccino System (Milk Frothing) This Gran Lattissima is the newest of these 5 Lattissima models with the most modern design that weighs a touch less than the similarly spec'd Lattissima Pro. The biggest difference is the Pro's digital touchscreen display and larger spent capsule capacity while the Gran has more preset beverage recipes:

Key Features of Nespresso Gran Lattissima

Flat milk recipes include the café latte and the flat white. However, given the nature of the Rapid Cappuccino System, there will be no micro-foam and the milk texture between these two drinks will be the same. So these drinks might feel a bit 'off'. The Gran Lattissima comes with a stand to elevate the platform where your espresso cup would go. This is a thoughtful feature since it'll help keep your espresso hot. Like all brewing devices, Nespresso machines need time to heat up the water before they can make coffee and espresso. Fortunately, their heat-up time is significantly faster than that of real espresso machines, electric drip coffee makers, and many pod-based competitors, including Keurig. Nespresso devices require anywhere from three to 30 seconds to heat up. The majority fall in the middle of that range, averaging around 20 seconds. The appeal of a Nespresso machine couldn’t be simpler: you can create professional-looking espressos and long coffee drinks at home without mess, fuss or even the remotest bit of barista skill. Simply pop a pod in and you’re ready to go. If you don’t have the time, money or inclination to master a professional coffee machine, or simply want a coffee-shop style cuppa in just a few seconds, they’re a great shout.

Ease of Use: We judged a machine's ease of use on several factors. Was brewing intuitive? Did it require more effort than other machines did? We took into account small touches like capacity markings on the water tank or a highly responsive touchscreen. This category also included how easy it was to set the machine up before our first use. Another reason this model is so approachable is because it has an intuitive and minimalist design—a common theme for Nespresso makers. One top-facing button controls everything from powering on, rinsing the machine, and brewing. It's also fairly compact and the shape can be adjusted to fit your countertop thanks to an adjustable water tank. One of the only things the item can't do is produce coffee in large volumes, which is typical for OriginalLine Nespresso machines. While this might be too costly for the occasional espresso drinker, it will make a statement and produce excellent results without the need to learn the differences between brews. By hand — If you don’t have a dishwasher, you need to clean the Rapid Cappuccino System by hand. Disassemble it, and soak it in hot water with mild soap for half an hour. Dry and reassemble. You can also create a custom drink if the recipes by De'Longhi do not suit your definition of a particular drink.

Whether you’re partial to espresso or a creamy flat white, you’ll find your perfect coffee partner with these Nespresso machines

A member of the OriginalLine family, Nespresso’s Lattissima machines offer high-end coffee with one-touch convenience. There are three devices in this category: the Lattissima Pro, the Gran Lattissima, and the Lattissima One. The coffee world is teeming with tools, gadgets, and appliances that can improve everything from taste to user experience. And one starting accessory to pair with your Nespresso machine is a capsule storage system. Remove and rinse the capsule container, the drip tray, the cup support, and the drop collector. You should do this every few days, depending on your use. All components are dishwasher safe. The amount of mineral buildup is affected by the kind of water you use. Hard water contains a high amount of dissolved minerals, namely calcium and magnesium, so it leads to faster mineral buildup. Soft or filtered water, on the other hand, is easier on your machine and cuts down on the frequency with which you need to descale. Nespresso’s user manuals generally contain a free water hardness testing strip. Coffee-wise, it works much like the other machines on this list: pop the capsule in the top, select your preferred drink and get your coffee almost instantly. Milk steaming is done separately, but it is automatic, and the temperature sensor underneath the jug means that it gives a wonderfully consistent silky froth. It purges (cleans) itself fairly soon after the cycle finishes, so it’s best to remove the milk just as soon as the steaming stops. One minor niggle: the single boiler means that you can’t steam milk at the same time as brewing a coffee.
