About this deal

And yes, am aware the specs of the NAS is not up to Roon Requirement but there’s only minimum amount of traffic and CPU usage in the NAS and so far, everything’s working fine when running Roon, apart from the E50 MQA issue. The Chromecast Audio has been fantastic for years, surprisingly not much of a following and shame it's discontinued. Just annoying no gapless but I'll probably keep it plugged into Optical possibly. I think it's not as useful if you have LDAC but don't prefer bluetooth in general.

Before, I connected E50 to Node, using same Optical cable, according to Bluesound recommendations: https://support1.bluesound.com/hc/en-us/articles/115006191908-Why-Isn-t-My-External-DAC-Playing-MQA- OFS - Confirms that the product is receiving an MQA stream or file. This delivers the final unfold of the MQA file and displays the original sample rate." Possible Setup: Turntable to Parks Puffin with COAX to E50, TV SPDIF to E50, Shield TV and HTPC to E50 with USB splitter? If you operate the volume without knowing this, it will cause serious troubles such as destroying the speaker. I immediately reported this issue to Topping. I hope it will be improved as soon as possible.I would make sure the Topping is in “Exclusive Mode” (under device setup in Roon for this DAC). Roon won’t do MQA without it. https://support1.bluesound.com/hc/en-us/articles/115006191908-Why-Isn-t-My-External-DAC-Playing-MQA- If you only need a DAC to use with powered speakers, you can skip buying an amp completely. That’s because the E50 has a preamplifier mode. WIth this mode selected, you can control the output volume with the remote control. Product highlights Also, I don't have an issue running more through the TV and then to the E50 but I'm trying to maximize performance while keeping it simple for my wife and kids. Further noticed that the start of songs can be "ever so slightly" trimmed as DAC changes its resolution.

Looks like my first one was a defective unit.

Get HiFi decoding not only with the USB input but with the coax and optical as well. The E50’s coax and optical inputs support 24-bit/192kHz PCM, DSD64 (DoP), and MQA rendering. Thanks for that. I can’t set the Topping in exclusive mode because it doesn’t recognize the manufacturer (it’s not on their list) - so it doesn’t even offer that option. There is comparison in youtube between su 8 and e50. Even thru youtube you can hear that sound opens up a bit with e50, more height. And here people say you can't hear the difference. What's that all about? Go and listen.
