About this deal

Upon the world of Cybele, one of the most dire events in the Blood Angels' long history came to pass in the form of Brother Arkio, who possessed the sacred Chapter relic known as the Spear of Telesto, and proclaimed himself to be the reincarnation of Sanguinius. Fealty was given to the so-called "Reborn Angel" by many within the ranks of the Blood Angels' 6th Company. Unknown to the Blood Angels, an Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor named Remius Stele, a secret servant of the Ruinous Powers, manipulated the situation to cause a schism within the Chapter. After Gallio and Vode were both killed by Arkio's loyalists, Mephiston decided that he, not Commander Dante, should go and deal with Arkio. He reasoned that since he was a psyker, he could better detect the taint of Chaos upon Arkio and his followers.

This was so that no single military commander could ever again wield the dangerous power of an entire Astartes Legion. This event is known as the " Second Founding" and the Flesh Tearers was one of the Chapters formed from the Blood Angels Legion, even as they continued to grieve for their fallen primarch, Sanguinius, who had been slain by Horus at the climax of the Siege of Terra. After their official formation, the Flesh Tearers immediately left Terra to embark upon a new Imperial Crusade to eliminate Traitor forces still loyal to the Warmaster Horus as well as continuing to purge Chaos infestations from Imperial worlds during the period known as the Great Scouring. Dante slammed his hand down, brooking no more dissent from the assembled scions of Sanguinius. The Flesh Tearer had said his piece, now Seth would listen to what the assembly had to say. Dante gestured to Techial, Chapter Master of the Disciples of Blood. He had been appointed the assembly's Chronicler. It fell to him to recount Seth's sins, to detail the actions that had brought the Flesh Tearers to such a juncture. Techial unfurled a length of parchment and read the charges aloud. Whilst fighting before the walls of Hades Hive, during the Second War for Armageddon, the curse of Sanguinius finally stole upon him. Inducted into the Blood Angels' Death Company, Calistarius took part in the final assault on the Ecclesorium building at Hades Hive, and was amongst those buried when the complex collapsed.

Flesh Tearers on the Battlefield

Since that day, Mephiston has risen swiftly through the ranks of the Blood Angels and now holds the office of Chief Librarian. He is a figure of awe and reverence to most of his Battle-Brothers, who perceive him as a saviour in these times of woe. Despite his intentions, Seth has done little to dispel the mistrust of his staunchest critics. Yet such things are of little concern to the Flesh Tearers Chapter Master, for, in his heart, Seth never truly abandoned hope that the Flesh Tearers can be spared from ultimate oblivion. After his sibling's death, the true master behind the nefarious Chaos plot revealed himself -- Malfallax, a Greater Daemon of Tzeentch. Malfallax and Inquisitor Stele had entered into a devil's bargain with Warmaster Garand of the Word Bearers Traitor Legion to turn the Blood Angels to Chaos by using Arkio as a false messiah. When Arkio was killed by his sibling Rafen, Stele attempted to summon Malfallax, intending to have the daemon possess his slave Ulan. When Flesh Tearers battle-brothers show the characteristic signs that they are falling prey to the Flaw, they are inducted into the Chapter's Death Company and isolated from their healthier brethren. These Space Marines continue their service under the supervision of the High Chaplain of the Death Company, residing in the specially-adapted strike cruiser Death's Cowl until they are called upon. It is a world of gargantuan beasts, magma geysers, and volatile electrical storms. Volcanic eruptions and sharp tectonic shifts threaten to rip apart its continents and swallow those arrogant enough to inhabit its surface.

Vitarus, the Sanguine Sword - In battle, Mephiston's Force Sword Vitarus bursts into crimson flame, kindled with the heat of his inner rage. The Deathwatch are not a Chapter per se, but rather an organisation that takes the best and brightest of the Space Marine Chapters for dedicated xenos hunting. The demands of their missions – which might find them chasing down Aeldari one day and rooting out a Genestealer Cult another – require flexibility above all, and all Deathwatch Veterans are trained to enact varying Mission Tactics at the perfect moment to succeed against impossible odds.

Anger and resentment ruled, and Amit became obsessed with Cretacia, believing its barbaric conditions a manifestation of the Flesh Tearers' own nature, hoping that if he could tame its peaks, he could temper the edges of his own fury. The chalk to the Dark Angels’ cheese, the Space Wolves are ferocious front-line fighters who love nothing more than a good scrap, a loud chorus, and a big old tankard of Fenrisian mjød. Their Chapter maintains a proud history of storytelling, with Characters competing to fulfil Deeds Worthy of Saga in the midst of combat – the better to boast about when the battle is inevitably won. Artificer Armour - Seth wears an ancient suit of Power Armour which prominently features both the striking serrated iconography of the Flesh Tearers Chapter and the wings of the Blood Angels. Spared extinction by the gift of Primaris Space Marines from Roboute Guilliman and Belisarius Cawl , the Flesh Tearers have set about doing what they do best – slaying their enemies and claiming worlds for the Imperium. However, in their eagerness, they’ve left their home world isolated.
