About this deal

The idea came to me after a minor procedure in hospital. Just as I was about to be put under general anaesthesia, I realised that I didn’t know anyone in the room – I was trusting strangers with my welfare entirely. Thankfully, the medical team were nothing but professional! But the idea had been sewn, and after the sedation wore off, I began scribbling my notes from my hospital bed, wondering to myself just how iron-clad a surgeon’s oath is, and what it would take to break it.”

Each with flaws and secrets - but the way that their friendships developed, it was soon easy to see that they would become a great support for each other. Headteacher Clare needs some downtime. Independent and refusing help, she’s close to burn out. She’s looking forward to time in Salcombe with Liz and her own baby daughter Ivy. The second half came to me during the London 2012 Olympic Games. The city took on an electric atmosphere with people staying out late to cheer on athletes, and I thought how fun it would be to write a version of Europe that felt that way all the time! I realised that not only did the novel need to be set half in space, and half on Earth, but that the version of Earth in the novel was utopian. A perfect world. It was a Eureka moment for me: the novel would tell the couple’s love story in this wonderful place, and explain how they ended up in space with only ninety minutes of air remaining. “Gravity meets One Day” is how I described it (and still do!).

The Sunrise Sisterhood: The perfect uplifting and joyful book The Sunrise Sisterhood: The perfect uplifting and joyful book

The characters were relatable, believable, and instantly likeable. I wanted to be friends with the ladies, sample their supper club creations, and even holiday in that beautiful part of the country. Beautifully written and richly layered with characters that feel like firm friends, it's full of Cathy's wonderful warmth, wisdom and wit' Alex Brown The knowledge that whatever they are going through, no matter how bad things get, they are not alone. They are never alone – millions of other women will be in the exact same situation and I hope there is comfort in that. This book was so many things - it was heartwarming, comforting, full of wisdom, emotional, romantic, funny, joyful, inspiring…I could go on and on! From the moment I started reading this book, I knew I was going to fall in love with these three women and I absolutely did! They weren’t perfect and they definitely each had their flaws, but don’t we all? Liz, Skye and Clare so accurately represented real women facing real everyday problems.Well what a fabulous read, I do love books set in small towns with characters that are starting again and this was no exception. Liz meets up with Jen’s ex-husband Mike on what would have been Jen’s birthday. She’s given news that means she’ll have to get the catering business up and running again. Mike offers the opportunity for Skye to help her out for the summer, but Liz is wary at first. With Clare and Ivy staying for the summer and no love lost between Clare and Skye, it could cause more problems than it solves. Liz believes Mike when he promises to smooth it over. Friendship, beaches, sea glass, small businesses… these are all the ingredients for a great book and I knew that one day I would write it. And I did. The Summer That Changed Us is out in March 2022!” Liz has lost the best friend she ever had in the world and has secretly been in love with her husband since uni. There was so much in the facts of Agatha Christie’s disappearance to love — mystery, intrigue, heartbreak, and a stunningly brilliant woman. And I thought, what if Archie Christie’s mistress were a little enchanted by the wife whose life she was tearing apart? I decided to put the real life Nancy Neele aside, and instead created a fictional mistress whose story I could fashion out of whole cloth. That’s when The Christie Affair took on its own shape, and sparked enough excitement in me to see it through to completion.”

With characters who are so real they will feel like old friends by the end of the book, laugh-out loud humour, intense emotion and heart-wrenching pathos, Cathy Bramley’s The Sunrise Sisterhood needs to be in every one’s beach bag this summer. Show how the three women help each other heal and become the SISTERHOOD.and learn how to be a family. Aaaaaaagh! I don’t like choosing! …but if pressed, I would have to say Clover’s Child. It is set in 1960’s London and I loved spending time in that era, plus it takes place in my Nan’s house so it feels familiar. The heroine Dot is one of my favourites and the story is probably the best example of the old adage; “you can never tell anyone’s story by looking at them”. Boys, we know this is probably feeling less relevant to you right now, but we also know you care about the women in your life, so please keep reading. Your characters are so empathetic. How do you gain your insights into their behaviour and reactions? The winner is responsible for ensuring they are able to accept the prize as set out and in accordance with these terms and conditions, in the event they are unable to do so then the Promoter reserves the right to redraw the prize. The Sunrise Sisterhood by Cathy Bramley | Hachette UK

Liz is still reeling from the death of her best friend, drinking too much and letting her business fail. Clare is a single mum trying to do everything, whilst grieving for her mum. Based in Salcombe and combining three main characters if Skye, her half sister Clare and their godmother Liz, this book explores their summer trying to cope with their grief, battling many secrets and attempts to salvage Liz's catering business.

The idea to write The Christie Affair came from someone else. I was between projects when my friend and agent, Peter Steinberg, sent me an article about the eleven days Agatha Christie went missing in 1926. “This would make a great novel,” he wrote. I agreed and set to thinking about it, deciding right away I wanted the story to be narrated by Archie Christie’s mistress. You don’t need to know the whole story now. And here’s the crux of it, when we’re talking about Big Ideas: ideas don’t happen by magic, they’re constructed. Ideas happen when you go looking for them! Liz’s story and how her grief was still so raw and how it was so tangible, yet she was so strong and the matriarch of her best friends family. Competition closes at 11.59pm on May 27, 2023 (the “Closing Date”). Entries received after the Closing Date will not be counted. What can I say… I absolutely loved this book. I have read all of Cathy’s books and everyone just keeps getting better and better. I loved the characters and enjoyed the fact that it focused on 3 strong women Skye,Clare and Liz all at different places in their lives although their journeys were intertwined. I liked the range of characters and the fact there were older characters as well as young ones
