About this deal

The book has a superb balance between text and image, a testament to Chapman’s writing and Lan’s exceptional artistic skill. It presents geographical facts and a vivid story unfolding across every continent, showcasing rivers in all their glory. Chapman’s keen sense of adventure and passion for exploration are evident throughout the book. His detailed yet accessible narration of the journey of a river is expertly supplemented with an ecologist’s viewpoint, thanks to the contributions of river ecologist François Edwards. This combination of adventure, exploration, and factual accuracy will ignite curiosity in students about the natural world and engage pupils in geography, ecology, and history. Dylan Childress, a former actor turned aviation company owner, finds himself at a crossroads in his life. As his business slows down in Montana, he contemplates returning to the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. However, during a weekend trip with friends, his priorities shift when he encounters a stranded woman and her twin boys on the side of the road. I came to know and care about these boys and wanted the story to end well, despite the odds. I loved that the book focused on a healthy male friendship, something we don’t often see in books. A River follows a young girl with an imagination bigger than the city she lives in. Beautiful illustrations tell the story of a child as she turns the river running through her home into a magical world. Floating through different spaces, she ultimately discovers that inspiration lies not only in the outside world but within her very own bedroom, too.

Written as a field guide to demonstrate practical examples of river types, and to highlight the pressures they experience and their often-parlous condition, this book is intended to better inform both river management approaches and the policy necessary to achieve this. Fundamentally, the authors seek to demonstrate how the hydrological, geomorphological, and ecological functions of rivers and their catchments are inexorably intertwined, and together how they generate and maintain rivers as dynamic entities. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I don’t know what magic the Iowa Writer’s Workshop has harnessed, but their graduates are some of the most pure and brilliant writers working today. Heller is one of those gems. The Hook Most readers have a list of favorite authors. Peter Heller is one of mine. I've heard him speak a few times, the man and the writer a clash of thought for me. I don't quite know how to explain this but if I had only met the man, I'm not certain I would have read his books. He down plays his core, a man who can cite poetry, appreciate fine art and describe nature with the best, often relying on humor rather than the revealing the attributes I mention. In this recentDespite their reservations, the connection between Katie and Dylan is undeniable. In a single moment, they both sense the potential for something life-changing. As they navigate their own fears and hesitations, they discover that love has a way of defying expectations. And it doesn't really matter because Marc Martin puts that character and us on boat on that river and as we float along we get to view dramatic changes of scenery. We leave the city and find farmland, for example, but not before we see the less desirable aspects of the city. A RIVER is a magical book, a pretty book. A RIVER begins with an artist sitting at a desk in front of two windows. Flowing off to the left and right is green hued river that is weaving it's way through a city. It's not clear whether the figure is an adult or a child. It seems 'female' but not markedly so.Vanessa Rutledge, supported by the Virgin River community during her darkest days, now seeks a promising future. Connor Danson finds himself uprooted from Sacramento after inadvertently witnessing a violent crime. With the trial looming, he seeks refuge in the quiet mountain town of Virgin River, carrying emotional burdens and a guarded demeanor. It too begins on the Thames, with The Nellie, a cruising yawl, as the dream-boat that carries Marlow, employed by “the Company”, as he heads into unmapped territory in search of missing company director, Kurtz. A journey to the heart of our collective subconsciousness. Oscar and Lucinda , Peter Carey When I first began to write The Fish Ladder, it was because of a hard-to-describe feeling that I should be travelling upstream, and also that I should be documenting the journey. I wasn’t sure what I was looking for when I first set out; certainly not what I eventually found. I could not have anticipated what I would learn about the human heart – my own, and other people’s. And I can’t pretend to be an expert on rivers. I am an enthusiastic amateur, and my knowledge of waterways is almost entirely heuristic. Having said that, I have been comforted by water all my life. However, a wildfire changes the tone of their trip, adding a sense of unease that intensifies when, after hearing a couple arguing, they attempt to warn them of the fire, but can’t seem to locate them in the fog. The next day they encounter a man paddling alone on the river, who claims his wife has gone missing. Soon though we've zipped past the factories and the surrounding land gives way to hills and green valleys; then to jungle and a waterfall before we head out between mangrove trees to the open sea.
