About this deal

Now that you have unboxed the Logitech K780 keyboard, you can move on to the next step: turning on the keyboard. Depending on your device, you may be prompted to enter a passkey or confirm a connection code. Follow the on-screen instructions and enter the required information to complete the pairing. Keyboard itself takes some time to get adjusted to, after years of using more traditional, larger keyboards. For me, the hardest part was that arrows are right below Enter and Shift buttons - when writing text I often hit the area to the upper left side from arrows, where Enter supposed to be. Also, having F-keys as a secondary action that requires pressing Fn button is annoying sometimes, but I don't use those keys much. Now, press and hold the “Bluetooth” button on the Logitech K780 keyboard. This button is typically located near the power switch or on the top row of keys. If Logitech can resolve the issues this keyboard has with Mac OS 10.15, I’d love to give it 5 stars. But as of today it's not as seamless as advertised… which is a shame. Because I really want to love this keyboard.

While connecting the Logitech K780 keyboard is typically a smooth process, you may encounter some common issues along the way. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve these issues: Once you have unboxed the Logitech K780 keyboard, the next step is to turn it on. The Logitech K780 keyboard offers two connection options: Bluetooth and USB. Follow these instructions based on your preferred method of connection: Look for the Bluetooth settings. It may be listed as “Bluetooth & other devices,”“Bluetooth & Wireless,” or something similar.

If you routinely use more than one device while you work, the Logitech K780 Multi-Device Wireless Keyboard is amenable to switching as you need and want to. It sports a handy tray for stowing smaller devices like tablets and smartphones and offers instantaneous switching between them with a simple keystroke. Like many Logitech peripherals, this computer keyboard is compatible with the Logitech Unifying software for nano-USB connectivity. You’re also free to forego the unifying receiver and connect exclusively through Bluetooth. There’s plenty of flexibility to connect and work with your devices as you see fit, though the actual typing experience is a little less forgiving.

Now why I decided to write this review after 4 years using a keyboard? It kept well over the years, but the mouse I used with it got the soft cover material deteriorated. I wanted to replace the mouse with the same model, and keep the keyboard, and 2 USB dongles I was using with my laptops. Unfortunately, the new mouse came with C-U0008 USB receiver, and the old mouse and keyboard from 2018 had C-U0007. Now, despite that new mouse was exactly the same model as old one, and all those products advertised to be compatible with "unifying" receivers, they are not. Old K780 keyboard is not compatible with new C-U0008 USB receiver, and new M720 mouse doesn't work with old C-U0007 receiver. Logitech, this is a really bad way to s.... customers. There is a kind of a workaround - use Bluetooth instead of RF, but it doesn't connect instantly, there is a few seconds gap between the moment you press switch button and when the keys start working on another device. It's not much of a deal, but it's very annoying, especially as I have to use it because of Logitech's fault to keep the "unifying" receiver ecosystem really unifying. Also, this will not work for everyone - not all desktop PCs have Bluetooth.

One area where I encountered no issues was wireless performance. The K780 has the potential of operating up to 33 feet from the signal source. While I didn’t experience this maximum range, I saw no range issues up to nearly 20 feet away over Bluetooth and nearly 15 feet away via the provided Logitech Unifying USB receiver. The three input hotkeys delivered instantaneous switching between devices and pairing was equally speedy and easy. Software: Customization ease with Logitech Options For those simply looking for a keyboard to control a single device, the K780 is overkill. Its array of buttons and slightly weird top row of keys means it isn’t the best choice; a more conventional Logitech wireless keyboard will suffice. We've retested the latency for this keyboard but no changes have been made to our results. For more details concerning this retest, see our Latency test below. If you have followed these troubleshooting steps and are still experiencing problems with your Logitech K780 keyboard, it is recommended to reach out to Logitech customer support for further assistance. They can provide personalized guidance based on your specific hardware and software setup. It has the standard Logitech sleep feature. This means it goes to sleep after like 30 secs of non-use. You'll get used to it, but it means when you go to type after a while of not typing, you have to hit the first key, wait for the letter to appear (maybe a second or two delay), then you can proceed with typing like normal. When it sleeps, it has to wake up, re-establish Bluetooth, and then send the data, so you can understand there is a slight delay. However, I've been using Logitech keyboards like this for years with that same behavior and it doesn't bother me. I know what to expect. It saves battery life, which is nice.

It has hotkeys and a number of nine hotkeys for easy access to frequently used shortcuts. This keyboard is compatible with a range of operating systems, including Windows 10 and 11, Mac OS X 10.14 Mojave, 10.15 Catalina, 10.15.3 Catalina, 11.0 Big Sur, and 12.0 Monterey. If you’re going to take this keyboard on the road, note it’s heavier than any other keyboard I've ever used. The K780 is powered by two AAA batteries that are included in the box. These are inserted into a panel on the underside of the keyboard. It’s beneath this panel that you’ll also find a Logitech Unifying Receiver dongle. You should definitely use this on any device that has a full-size USB port – in my experience, it offers a much more reliable and lag-free connection than connecting via Bluetooth. In the list of available devices, look for “Logitech K780” or a similar name that represents your keyboard. With the Logitech K780 keyboard powered on and ready to connect, you can now proceed to the next step: enabling Bluetooth on your device.

With the Logitech K780 keyboard successfully paired with your device, you can now start using it for typing and other activities. However, if you want to further customize the keyboard settings, you can proceed to the next step: customizing keyboard settings (optional). I like the design of round keys, I find that key action is good enough and not worse than any compact keyboard. The phone/tablet stand was not useful a lot for me. I don't use tablets, though, and I imagine it's helpful to put a tablet into the stand if the tablet doesn't have it's own stand. Battery life was great. I think I had to change batteries once since 2018. Overall, I'm satisfied with this keyboard. Congratulations! You have successfully learned how to connect a Logitech K780 keyboard to your device. The Logitech K780 offers a seamless wireless typing experience, allowing you to effortlessly switch between multiple devices. By following the steps outlined in this guide, you have unboxed the keyboard, turned it on, enabled Bluetooth on your device, and paired the keyboard with your device. Find a flat and clean surface to work on. This will prevent any accidental damage to the keyboard or its accessories.Once the USB receiver is securely connected, turn on the Logitech K780 keyboard by toggling the power switch to the “On” position.
