About this deal

While I’ve found it simple to clean the Miele’s drum, door window and seal, it’s not easy to clean the drawer due to Miele’s CapDosing system (you get a couple of free CapDosing capsules to try out when you buy the machine). Now, of course, there’s some variation to that statement you need to know what clothes can go in safely together for one thing. And you need to know what settings will work with what clothes and how to safely load your washing machine as well. But that will all come with time but if there’s one thing that won’t it’s the washing powder. While 35ml is the perfect amount of Ariel liquid for a 4-5kg washing machine, you need 55ml in a 6-8kg washing machine and 70ml in a 9kg+ washing machine. How much washing powder to use For white clothes, we recommend using power detergents, as they contain a bleach and optical brighteners which helps keep your clothes bright white. Power detergent can be dosed directly into the washing machine drawer. It’s not just how much laundry detergent you use, though, it’s how you dose it. With liquid detergent, you should use the Ariel dosing device, fill it with the correct laundry detergent dosage and place it directly into the washing machine’s drum, along with your dirty laundry. With powder, it’s best to dose into your washing machine’s dispenser drawer. When to use more detergent

These are pre-measured capsules that use specialist detergent to help protect your laundry, which you insert into the hatch in the detergent drawer before a wash cycle. You don’t need to use a CapDosing capsule for your wash, but the system makes it harder for me to clean the drawer. As a result, there's usually some detergent build up after a few wash cycles. Is the Miele W1 WSG363 Freestanding Washing Machine good value for money? This machine has a 48dB noise reading for a wash cycle but 72dB for a spin, so when I’m in the living room or dining room I can’t hear it unless it's at the height of the spin cycle. With four people in my household (my husband, myself and our two children aged three and six), the Miele W1 WSG363 and its large 9kg drum suits our needs well. The washing machine has 12 different programmes to choose from depending on preference - these include including Express 20, hand wash, extra rinse and Sportswear - however there are some cycles I use more than others. For coloured clothes, use detergent specifically for coloureds / delicates without optical brightener. This will ensure that the colours stay fresher for longer.

More From Ariel

The Miele W1 WSG363 is one of the brand's best performing washing machines. Its size is an instant plus point for a family of four, and it cleans and rinses so well that I can really notice the cleanliness of my laundry after using this machine. That said, my daughter’s bedroom is just above the kitchen and if the house is quiet (when everyone is asleep) and I set the machine to come on early in the morning, I have noticed she wakes up early on those days. Whether that’s down to the machine or just a coincidence is debatable.

Years ago, the most common size for a washing machine was 4-5kg. But as technology has improved, 6-8kg and even 9kg+ washing machines have appeared. And they’re just as efficient, if not more so, than their smaller predecessors. The machine comes with a ‘climate pledge friendly label,’ which ensures it has had improvements in at least one aspect of sustainability. It also has an ‘A’ energy rating and annual energy consumption of 130kWh per year, so it’s a washing machine to consider if your main goal is to save on energy costs and usage. One thing worth mentioning, however, is that the Serie 6 won’t achieve the same level of wash performance when using the i-Dos feature – and nor will any of the Bosch machines with the feature. This is because liquid detergent does not – and can not – contain bleaching agents. If you want the whitest whites and the most powerful stain-removing performance possible, you’ll need to use washing powder and that means adding it manually before every wash.

Sizes

It has a variety of different programmes, which helps me tailor each wash cycle to my family's needs, as well as some impressive features, including an AddLoad function that allows me to add items after a programme has started - one of the features I use most! Remember those TV ads where someone washed two white T-shirts with different washing powders and one (hint: the brand that’s being advertised) always came out blindingly clean? Well, we’ve been conducting our own version of that in hopes of finding which washing powders really are the best. Well some experts have shared their own opinion on that, Persil the laundry detergent brand officially recommends 110ml of washing powder for a single load of washing. However, they also recommend increasing this by a further 100ml of washing powder if the clothes are more heavily soiled. Liquid Detergents
