Make a Christmas wish to hang on our special Wish Trees and take the opportunity to stir the giant Christmas pudding pot, just one of many festive photo opportunities to be enjoyed with friends and family. Due to the time of year and the wet weather experienced throughout Derbyshire over recent months, the walk from your car is likely to be very muddy. We strongly recommend that you wear footwear suitable for wet and muddy conditions.

Last entry is one hour before closing. View opening times here. Please note that the garden lights are best viewed after dusk. At the heart of the house, you’ll find Father Christmas’ workshop; a hive of activity as preparations are underway for the all-important Christmas Eve deliveries. Keep your eyes peeled for his little helpers around the house, who you may spot making mischief while Father Christmas is away.
Please note that the last opportunity to view the projection on the house will be approximately 20 minutes before the garden closes.
Create a range of handcrafted hanging and freestanding Christmas decorations, with a distinctly bird inspired theme.If you are visiting on a late night, you may wish to visit the garden first so you have enough time to enjoy the full experience. Manual wheelchairs are available for use in the house, garden and farmyard. They can be booked in advance by calling 01246 565430 (accessibility option #3), and can be collected from the house entrance underneath the flagpole. Featured in the decorations will be items from the Devonshire Collections, including ecclesiastical paintings by Luca Giordano (1634-1705), Salvator Rosa (1615 - 1673) and Paolo Veronese (born Paolo Caliari, 1528-1588). A children's winter workshop – make a crown from willow and fill it with winter foliage, berries and natural materials. Explore an interactive light and sound trail around the garden, with a dazzling light show transforming the house into a giant advent calendar.
The farmyard will be dressed for Christmas with decorations and lights. Meet our friendly farm animals, enjoy milking demonstrations and take part in guinea pig cuddling sessions. There will be Christmas crafts in the barn and children can enjoy letting off steam in our woodland playground.Please note, during the Christmas market car parking arrangements may be different to what you have previously experienced at Chatsworth. There are a limited number of single-person motorised scooters available to pre-book for use on the garden light trail. Please call 01246 565430 (accessibility option #3) to book a two-hour slot, this will give you plenty of time to enjoy the experience at a leisurely pace. There is disabled parking available in the main house car park. Please display your blue badge clearly when arriving at Chatsworth so our team can direct you to the disabled parking area. Once this area becomes full, they will direct you to a space closest to the tractor and trailer shuttle service. The shuttle service is wheelchair accessible.
