A basic army is made up of 24AP worth of troops, but no more than half the points can be spent on elements costing 3 or more AP. The Orcs massed their beasts and riders on on flank looking to overwhelm the Dwarves there, whilst screening with the hordes elsewhere.

HOTT Modern - Bruce McFarlane of the Canadian Wargamers Group has produced this HotT-related rule set for modern divisional scale games. In either case each player rolls a die and adds various tactical factors, for flank attacks or cover, and so on.
