About this deal

This was the last time John Deacon performed as a member of Queen, and for me, the last time Queen songs were played with anything like the passion, and to the standard, we’d become accustomed to with Freddie. Brian played an absolute blinder on not just Queen songs, but as a Master of Ceremonies to a whole host of other artists and their own hits. Expo Sevilla 1992

a b Purvis, Georg (2011). Queen: Complete Works (2nded.). London: Titan Books. p.134. ISBN 9780857685513. The album contains top 10 singles " Too Much Love Will Kill You" and " Driven by You", and peaked at number six on the UK Albums Chart and at number 159 on the US Billboard 200.The roistering “I’m Scared” wears Brian’s fears on its sleeve, while “Last Horizon” reaches for a sense of serenity in its expressive guitar work. Written for skiffle star Lonnie Donegan, “Let Your Heart Rule Your Head” proves May’s easy way with buoyant melody. “Just One Life” is a poignant elegy to a lost loved one, but very unusual in that Brian wrote the song about someone he never met – only came to know at a celebration of his life. Oficjalna lista sprzedaży:: OLiS - Official Retail Sales Chart". OLiS. Polish Society of the Phonographic Industry. Retrieved 2 September 2021. A Top 20 hit on its single release in November 1992, it would open The Brian May Band’s concerts, drawing audiences in before raising the roof with its optimism-fired grandeur. Between its layers of sound and dramatic melodic sweep, the song stands as a personal yet expansive declaration of determined belief that the light is out there – and a constant promise, perhaps, that this album would accompany (“I’ll be there”) listeners on the long road towards it. Purvis, Georg (2011). Queen: Complete Works (2nded.). London: Titan Books. p.196. ISBN 9780857685513.

The live version of “Too Much Love Will Kill You” was recorded at the Palace Theater, Los Angeles, on 6 April 1993; the night before, Brian and a special guest tore through Queen concert favourite “Tie Your Mother Down” on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. “Welcome, Mr Slash,” says Brian, as the Guns N’ Roses guitarist serves notice of May’s multi-generational influence. Purvis, Georg (2011). Queen: Complete Works (2nded.). London: Titan Books. p.256. ISBN 9780857685513. Rollin' Over" is May's cover of The Small Faces' song. "In [May's] hands...the song becomes a scorching tour de force of guitar riffs and exploding drums, turning [it] into what might as well be an outtake from one of Queen's earlier albums (indeed, Smile played it in their touring days)". Is a pointless, cringeworthy and terrible film. You could, of course, counter my opinion with its success, reception, and awards, but, I’m sorry, this film is dominated and builds towards a recreation of Live Aid. So my question to you is, why not just watch the real Live Aid, with the real Queen? It really is a million times better. I think Bo Rhap is a bit of a hit-and-miss, on the one hand painting the legacy in pink all over, yes, but underneath that there are some suggestions of them being immature at the time. I think it’s important that people also understand Freddie had fears and struggled with his own identity, because his deeply charismatic aura gave the impression he was totally liberated in life, which was not the case. Likewise, the scene when Freddie says he’s the one giving the other members of Queen that mystical aura that allows them to live a fantasy version of themselves… blew me away. The album reached number six in the UK album charts, and features the singles ‘Too Much Love Will Kill You’ and ‘Driven by You’. Both songs were top ten singles in Britain, the former earning May a prestigious Ivor Novello Award (Best Song Musically and Lyrically) and the latter presumably earning the Queen guitarist a fair wodge of cash, since it was commissioned by Ford Motor Company for a TV ad. Just One Life" could be misinterpreted as a tribute to Mercury, "but was actually written for actor Philip Sayer". [26] May was inspired to write the song after attending a memorial concert for Sayer, whom May had never met.
