About this deal

I recently bought the Flymo 2700 garden vac, primarily for vacuuming lawn clippings from around our pool. when it finally gave up the ghost I replaced it with a modern through the fan type, from a leading diy company.

Too many of the models available these days are just blowers which I don’t want – I have never understood the logic of blowing leaves on to the pavement or into the road – and machines that do also have a vacuum function are usually not that powerful when it comes to sucking. The power requirements of the blower match the power of the generator so I'm not sure whats happening! With a collection capacity of 40 litres and a shredding ratio of 3:1, leaves are no task for this blower vac. Designed for medium sized gardens, the PowerVac 2700 has a blow speed of 212km/h and a powerful 2700W motor.

The mulching method seems less prone to jams than a Robert days item I had previously, which had to constantly be opened to clear. I then found that the air being discharged from the top of the machine (it has to expel somewhere), was blowing away what I was trying to suck up meaning I had to be extremely precise in the path (and angle) I was trying to vacuum. The GardenVac worked on a “venturi air mover” principle, whereas the Sirocco just uses a fast axial fan to move the air. Also, the ‘jet vacuum function’ for blasting wet leaves and loosening them before sucking them up does sometimes just blast them away before you can vacuum them into the bag.

This mains powered electric blower vac blows leaves, grass and light hedge clippings, vacuums them up and shreds them into a large holding bag.To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. I don't know where the problem sits - maybe it's inbuilt obsolescence - but none of mine have lasted much beyond two or three seasons. Finally, I concluded that the little blade that you clip inside the unit which, like a conventional flymo (it comes with 2 blades one being a spare), was of no use because the Wysteria petals were already small. The holding bag has a collection capacity of 40 litres and attaches underneath the GardenVac, but it needs some dexterity to clip it on - if it’s not done correctly the vac won’t work.

The same goes for the strap; the original is broader and has a shoulder pad, so has been transferred to the new machine. It is a good looking machine that is totally useless at picking up, the blower is good but not outstanding.Much time is spent wiggling the business end up, down and about to get the angle just right so that it works. It was better as a blower but I have a petrol leaf blower and so the blower function was unimportant to me. Designed for medium sized gardens, the Flymo Power Vac 2700V has a powerful motor of 2700W and a blow speed of 310km/h - making tidying your garden a breeze. Inspect the motor and internal components: If the motor brushes are in good condition, you may need to inspect the motor and other internal components for damage or wear.
