About this deal

Parabens are a large group of preservatives which are used to prevent bacteria growing in cosmetic formulations. However some sulfates are so good at their job, they can wash off your skin’s own natural oils that keep it moisturised and protected which can lead to dryness and irritation. Allantoin: A soothing, skin-softening and protecting ingredient, it can also promote wound healing. Additionally, products that may contain ingredients that have shown to feed Malassezia may not neccessarily exacerbate the condition due to concentration of ingredient used in the product, this information is simply not available on the products.

These include: Amodimethicone, Behenoxy Dimethicone, Bis-Aminopropyl Dimethicone, Cetearyl Methicone, Cetyl Dimethicone, Cyclomethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Dimethicone Copolyol, Dimethiconol, Methicone, Phenyl Trimethicone, Phenyl Trimethicone, Stearoxy Dimethicone, Stearyl Dimethicone, Trimethylsilylamodimethicone. If your skin is dehydrated, sensitive, combination or acne prone I’d say this is a great choice for an every day moisturizer. Personally I have been really happy using the Soon Jung Hydro Barrier Cream! I find it very soothing especially when my skin is reactive or sensitive after exfoliating and doesn’t cause my acne prone face to breakout. I’ve also found this works great under makeup and as a primer, there is no pilling at all. It can take a couple of minutes to fully absorb which I am ok with. I would have liked a pump bottle as I don’t really like using products in jars, (I worry too much about germs getting in the products) but clearly it's not a deal breaker for me as I am on my third jar. Madecassoside : Derivative of Centella Asiatica Extract : Wound healing + hypertrophic scar healing properties + promotes collagen production (Acts as an Antioxidant). - Madecassoside can also help in burn wound healing through increasing antioxidant activity and enhancing collagen synthesis. There has been some healthy controversy surrounding them due to a few studies finding paraben presence in breast tumours and breast tissue. However, the majority of the scientific community have deemed these findings non-conclusive due to the limitations of these studies.Formulation: Cruelty-free, mineral oil-free, free of color additives, synthetic perfume, parabens, harsh alcohols, common allergens, silicones or sulfates For the same reasons they are popularly used, they are also commonly avoided. Anecdotally, many individuals have reported that Silicones cause/excerbate breakouts, irritation, cause a feeling of skin being unable to breathe, cause clumping of cosmetic products and find it difficult to wash off. As a result, those who find them problematic are avoiding them and increasingly, cosmetic companies are avoiding them as well. The EU Allergen Free label is for the 26 ingredients identified by the EU SCCS and products will be only flagged if a suspected ingredient is on it's ingredient list. It is possible for cosmetics to contain one of the suspect ingredients without it appearing on the ingredient list due to it not reaching the concentration threshold to disclose it and cosmetic manufacturers choice to not disclose it. What’s special about this formulation is that it has a lower pH, similar to that of healthy skin, so it helps to strengthen the skin barrier. It’s also awesome to see that it’s free of potential irritants like fragrance, artificial color, and parabens. Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract: A traditional Chinese herbal medicine loaded with potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory flavonoids such as baicalin, baicalein, and wogonin . If that would not be enough, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract is also claimed to have antimicrobial and antifungal properties (also against P.acnes and Malassezia furfur ) as well as some skin-brightening activity. A multi-functional skin-good

Hero ingredients include panthenol, which moisturizes, softens, and reduces stress on the skin; madecassoside, which is derived from calming centella asiatica (cica); and green tea extract, which boasts antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. These ingredients work together to repair damaged skin, moisturize, protect, and bring much-needed relief. It is perfect to seal in your serums or actives, perfect to pair with acid treatments because this is so gentle and basic Pityrosporum Folliculitis/Malassezia folliculitis or simply known as Fungal Acne is a persistent acne-like condition that commonly responds poorly to traditional acne-treating methods. Unlike most cases of Acne where bacteria is the culprit, Fungi is the culprit of Fungal Acne (Hence the name!). There are certain classes & groups of ingredients that have been shown to promote and feed the growth of the Fungal Acne, Fungi such as fatty acids, oils, esters, polysorbates and fermented ingredients. At SkinCarisma, we've done our best to identify as many ingredients as possible but note the fungal-free label may not be 100% accurate due to the complexconditions and combination of ingredients that malezzeria can thrive on. As a result, please note this is only an experimental label that can be best used to possible identify problematic products you have used in the past. It is in no way a perfect identifier nor a predictor in whether or not it will exacerbate or cause fungal acne. It will continue to be worked on as more information and research comes to light. For more information regarding Fungal Acne, please visit Simple Skincare Science (f.c) - #3 of our Recommend Skincare Resources for an amazing comprehensive guide! Star Ingredients - Panthenol (form of Vitamin B5 that moisturises, anti-inflammatory, repairs), Green Tea Leaf Extract (antimicrobial, antioxidant, hydrating, anti-inflammation), Sunflower Seed Oil (rich in antioxidants, soothing, unclogs pores, evens skin tone) The nourishing formula is free of artificial fragrance, parabens, mineral oil, artificial color, animal products, and is vegan and cruelty-free.

Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract (Green tea): Antioxidant (Polyphenol) + Anti-inflammatory (Polyphenol) + Antimicrobial (Catechins)Water, Propanediol, Pentaerythrityl Tetraethylhexanoate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Cetearyl Alcohol, Panthenol, Madecassoside, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, 1, 2-Hexanediol, Potassium Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, Butylene Glycol, Disodium Edta etudehouse.com If you have oily skin, I would suggest trying the Tatcha Water Cream that’s water-based and more lightweight ( review here). Is Soon Jung barrier cream good? Heavy duty as a moisturizer but still is very emollient and sits well under makeup (give it a few minutes to absorb into the skin first though) It’s suited for irritated skin, sensitive skin, or ‘weak/fragile skin’, but I find even for normal skin/dry skin this is perfect! I mostly use this as a basic, regular moisturizer, and then for days that my skin is feeling more irritated or slightly sunburnt, I like to use the Dear, Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream (review here).
