About this deal

And don't forget: every SECOND there are 5,000,000,000,000 young girls and boys getting raped by their parents, in South London alone... < Isabel took a while to get a handle on. At first I thought she was being way too overly emotional about her best friend marrying and then....well things get slowly revealed. I was curious what was the date in the past that Isabel lived in. I assume at least 1800s or so? And I think that only because of the description about food and dresses. But, I ended up not liking this character, you will get to why that is when you read the book though. That said, Giraldes did a great job developing her and the character of Ana (Isabel's best friend).

I could not put this book down...I read well into the day and late into the night. I loved this author's writing style...it was intense and addictive. The story felt so sadly real. Ottilie was the sweetest most innocent child and the thought of the horrors she lived through at the hands of her parents...was so sad.

When one terrible night things go pear-shaped in a big way, the press go after Alex in a big way, blaming her for what has happened. As they do! They are out to sensationalise it all and Alex has to hide away at the rectory hoping it will quieten down soon. And she has put herself in a very compromising place. Go Alex! She wants to be happy. She loves the little being growing inside her, she really does, but that love is being shadowed by a lot of other darker emotions right now.

This book is told through two timelines. In the past timelines readers meet Isabelle and Ana. Two women who are in love with each other but are married to men. With two timelines, I usually enjoy one more than the other. I found myself being very invested in the timeline in the past. I knew that there was going to be a connection to it and the present. I was fully invested in Ana and Isabelle's tale of longing, love, and being separated. I felt for them and enjoyed their letters. Based on a true story, No Child of Mine delivers a devastating depiction of the failure of the UK system to protect its children in the face of years of habitual sexual abuse from parents, social workers and pimps. Like vultures swirling above Kerry's head, they take, take, take until eventually, the body mind and spirit are crushed and there's nothing left.I decided that I would like to have a go at playing Kerry,” Brooke Kinsella says. “One of the main reasons for my decision was that the film might help other children in situations like hers. If it helped just one, it would have been worthwhile.” Thank you to Poisoned Pen Press, Dreamscape Media and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you google its name you’ll understand. They concocted that little story for the exact same reason they decided to become a tranny, a desperate plea for attention, and now they’re getting it. Is it my imagination or am I the only person who thinks that the United Kingdom has been perhaps the biggest country (along with the US) to make such raw and scary movies? While this made for TV film is not gratuitous and with film that looks like it was taken on a potato, the performance from Brooke Kinsella in the lead role is compelling with a message that is delivered in a direct and painful way that leaves very little to the imagination. A very, very long time ago I did a two year stint of answering phones for the Samaritans. At that time all places were locally funded, staffed and run. The ethic of how to deal with people was set-in-stone. It made no difference if the person calling was 5 or 90 they were treated the same. There were really several pieces to this story. There was Ottilie and what was happening, with Alex desperately trying to uncover what was going on. There was the Mom Erica and her deep illness. And then there was Alex's own past, there are a lot of hidden skeletons in her closet. No Child Of Mine is mostly an atmospheric psychological thriller. There are some creepy elements as well. Chapters alternate with letters written between two women in an undisclosed time in the past. Do they have anything to do with what's going on in the present? I had hoped there would be some spookiness in Essie's new house but other than some whispering and an object occasionally being displaced nothing much happened. Even when the curse began to take hold there wasn't any suspense. The ending seemed too simplistic after so many generations had suffered this curse.
