With a capacity of 0.4L, it doesn’t hold an awful lot of dirt but with the press of a button you can empty the dust into the bin - for most people this isn’t a problem but those with pets and young children may find themselves emptying it frequently - so decide whether that will be an inconvenience. This is my first Dyson. I bought this model because it was a good place to start, in terms of investment. I needed something strong and capable that didn't weigh too much. We have tile and hardwood floors with multiple area rugs. Whatever I bought also had to be able to handle a lot of cat hair and scattered kitty litter. These are my observations: I'll update this review over time, if anything new develops. I couldn't be happier with this investment! I don't know that I'll ever need to use our push style vac again.

On its default mode, you can, according to Dyson, get 20 minutes of cleaning out of the Dyson V6 Animal, about half of that claimed by competitor cordless vacuum the Gtech Air Ram. It’s not just about performance though, as V8 models are more expensive – and the V6 isn’t cheap in the first place! For this reason, choose the V6 if you want a vacuum for daily cleaning and would prefer a lower price rather than a longer run-time. The Absolute combines Dyson’s V6 digital motor, which spins at an incredible 110,000 revolutions per minute to produce a maximum 100 air watts of suction, with the cyclone technology previously used in the company’s mains-powered vacuums. The 15 cyclones are placed in two radial tiers, which preserves air pressure on its way through the vacuum and helps capture smaller dust particles. When empty, we measured suction at 11kPa, or 19kPa in MAX mode; that’s on par with some of the mains-powered vacuums we reviewed last year.
