About this deal

I enjoyed my first few plays of Stalingrad so thoroughly that I sought out more. That is, in the middle of a 15-scenario campaign, I diverted my attention to trying out Undaunted: Normandy. I needed to contextualize my experience with this particular iteration and work out some thoughts on the system. Campaign or not, Undaunted as a framework is a strong offering.

La preparazione e il riordino portano via poco tempo, grazie anche all'organizzazione della scatola. L'ingombro al tavolo è minimo. Undaunted: Stalingrad is a monumental standalone game that expands the series’ scope and challenge beyond anything that’s come before. Through its branching campaign, you’ll discover more of the hundreds of cards and tiles every time you play. Featuring more than 430 unique illustrations by Roland MacDonald and 150 evocative mission briefings written by acclaimed author Robbie MacNiven, immerse yourself in this campaign at the heart of the war. il sistema è "adattivo", nel senso che si può sempre rispondere alle mosse avversarie modificando la propria condotta; Stalingrad’s campaign can span fifteen games. Over the course of this campaign, players try to meet objectives, and upon completion of a mission, read a briefing from their scenario book before moving on. Each mission setup may introduce new faction units as well as new rules and conditions. It also begins to make each faction more defined and asymmetric. Undaunted: Stalingrad is a monumental standalone game that expands the series’ scope and challenge beyond anything that’s come before, introducing new units and actions and the all-new integrated branching campaign. They form a detailed graphical representation of an area South of central Stalingrad accurately depicting all the key landmarks as evidenced in the aerial photograph taken at the time. The artwork here and on the hundreds of individual soldier representations by Roland MacDonald is exemplary. Senior Games Developer Filip Hartelius added, “Undaunted: Stalingrad takes the series to its breathtaking next level. With every scenario played, your actions impact the course of the campaign, the platoon of soldiers you lead, and the very city itself. Brought to life by Roland MacDonald’s beautiful illustrations and Robbie MacNiven’s evocative writing, Undaunted: Stalingrad immerses you in this infamous battleground like never before. This is something else.” After the end of the scenario, both commanders write who won in their Scenario book. This will lead them to a Game State which they also record, the new Briefing and the next Scenario. All these numbers should be the same for each player.

The casualty system is also brilliant and heartbreaking. I had a real connection with a rifleman and a machine gunner who were stars of my platoon. When I lost the rifleman after pushing too hard, and then drawing them after the mission when they were, sadly, in the casualty pile, I immediately regretted the decision to rush. Connection to specific characters began to occur over time. And the unique artwork by Roland MacDonald only added to the buy-in. Each of the 2 players has separate RPG style scenario booklets which give briefings on the battle before them dependent on the outcome of the previous battles. These develop over the course of 15 branching scenarios Stalingrad, 1942. Before you awaits a grueling conflict in this keystone battleground. As the bullets and bombs tear the city asunder, only through wits and valor can you seize the cornerstone of the entire Eastern Front and change the course of history. Undaunted : Stalingrad features more than 300 unique illustrations by Roland MacDonald and 150 evocative mission briefings written by acclaimed author Robbie MacNiven. It’s here where the quality of the scene-setting briefings by Robbie MacNiven prove their worth as you get drawn into the lives of Max and Uri and their squads as their struggle evolves. The early missions introduce new units and actions and I found myself pushing on to see what comes next. After a couple of successful scenarios for the Germans, the Soviets brought up artillery that absolutely obliterated both Pavlov’s house and Zabolotny’s House, the two so-called “lighthouses”, reducing them to piles of rubble yet still the Germans clung on. So then the German Engineers arrive to attempt the destruction of the NKVD HQ in the Waterworks and on it goes until a final climactic battle that decides their fate and that of Stalingrad itself. To The Last Man And Bullet With Undaunted: Stalingrad, the designers have moved the action to Eastern Front, but this isn’t just a reskin. It’s a whole new game with a novel, dedicated campaign system. What’s in the Box Undaunted: Stalingrad is played in a number of scenarios, 15 in the full campaign, played over a section of the 72 tile depiction of an area South of Central Stalingrad around the 9 th January Square. There are many ways the campaign can go before culminating in one of 14 endings. There’s a lot more to learn about within, but I don’t want to spoil this campaign. There are many actions to discover, new units to explore, and the campaign continually introduces new elements for you to learn. This campaign also allows players to reset it once finished, as it is not a legacy game. This allows for unlimited plays through the campaign and exploration of its many branching narratives and endings. Riflemen A out here trying to hold down mission points while tanks slowly approach. Game Experience:

Stalingrad, 1942. Before you awaits a gruelling conflict in this cornerstone battleground. As the bullets and bombs tear the city asunder, only through wits and valour can you seize the cornerstone of the entire Eastern Front and change the course of history. If you’ve tried Undaunted games before and have not been keen, this one might just change your mind. On the other hand, if you already are an Undaunted fan then entrench yourself on the banks of the Volga in Undaunted: Stalingrad.Despite that spasm, all of this provides a tremendous tension that simply doesn’t exist in standard Undaunted. It’s a driving force behind the extended experience and partially responsible for the game’s brilliance. Thompson and Benjamin offer a release valve, however, by allowing you to retreat. Instead of taking your turn, you can call it quits and immediately capitulate. You lose, but you stop the bleeding. This completely changes the dynamic of play. It forces you to consider the permanence of unit loss and attaches an emotional connection to the lives of these men and women. io volevo iniziare con UN per il solo play, poi in Tana ho letto una discussione che mi ha fatto conoscere Warfighter e ho virato su quello. Devo dire che WF mi sta soddisfando al 110%, però ogni volta che leggo di UN mi attira sempre. Prima o poi... gli scenari conducono a diversi bivi, a seconda della vittoria sovietica o tedesca. Ci sono delle sovrapposizioni, ma sicuramente è possibile rigiocare la campagna più volte e approdare a differenti epiloghi; One of those clever turns, and the second impressive achievement of the campaign system, is the personality imbued in the setting. I’m not talking about the moderate quantity of script that precedes each scenario and offers context to the battles. That stuff is adequate military fiction that doesn’t quite standout. What I’m talking about is in how the mechanisms afford a charisma to the city of Stalingrad. This new edition with be the 4th in the series following Undaunted: Normandy (2019), Undaunted: North Africa (2020) and Undaunted: Reinforcements (2021).
