About this deal

But this book definitely reminded me of the things that I had laid out and thought back to where I used to think I'd end up ten years later and then ended up laughing because now I can't even imagine going by that plan. I loved getting back in touch with Nell and her life, and though our situations are different, there was still plenty I could relate to, as a woman of a similar age.

I’ve learned if there’s one gift you can give yourself in life, it’s the freedom and courage to say “I don’t know”. This book is a sequel to a book that I haven't read, however that didn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying this one. When everything goes tits up, do you fall apart or jump on a plane to LA with Cricket (an eighty-something widow and your BFF)? As Nell navigates the complexities of love, friendship, and self-discovery, I found myself nodding in agreement, pausing to reflect on my own life and decisions. To exercising with Joe, Zoom quizzes, banging pots and whooping on the doorstep on a Thursday evening, and dancing in a sparkly dress with Sophie in the kitchen. I am not sure if my words are doing justice to how much I loved this book but I loved this book and everything about it. I don't know if there will be anymore in this series, but if she does decide to continue it, I can guarantee that this bookworm will be reading it.

An amusing, light read with believable characters and in which you find yourself routing for Nell to find her happy ending. I had finished the book and it was due to be published in April 2020 but then the world stopped and everything shut,” says Potter. A funny, feisty tale about the highs and the oh-so-lows of having to start over in your forties with a smart, sassy character at its heart who you'll be cheering on from start to finish. The women whom I love and admire for their strength and grace did not get that way because shit worked out.Even though I knew from the start what may have been happening romance wise, it was still a satisfying read. It still touched on a number of themes and had the same funny, lighthearted humour sprinkled in with some more heartfelt moments that I’ve come to love about Alexandra Potter’s writing but the plot was not as strong.

At face value, this book might seem like a midlife crisis diary, but Alexandra Potter dishes out a narrative that's as delightful as it is insightful. Nell begins a new job and she becomes acquainted with the enigmatic Cricket, an eighty year old with an infectious zest for life. Alexandra’s novel, One Good Thing, is still one of my forever favourites, and I loved how different this book was to it, whilst still being every bit as wonderful and addictive. If you’re looking for a laugh out loud until you snort and can’t breathe anymore then definitely pick this one up. It’s rare for any book to actually make me laugh out loud like this one did (more than once) and for a book to resonate on so many levels with me. This was full of unexpected surprises, it had me laughing so much, also I did cry to there were some upsetting moments, but I’m so glad the book ended on a high note.
