About this deal

Cultural references abound, as when a messenger comes carrying a banner announcing a “FIESTA” in beautiful papel picado. Kipper’s Toybox’ is a perfect example of a follow on book for children just starting to actually read a story with you. In 'Kipper's Toybox' our lovable dog protagonist is busy counting his soft toys in to his toybox before bedtime. Kipper, a charmingly fubsy dog, is concerned: something has nibbled a hole in his toybox; and when he dumps his toys out, he can count one too many: seven. Well that would be telling, but needless to say the ending will be a happy one - as it always is with Kipper.

In 1989 The Blue Balloon established him as a truly original voice in children’s picture books, by which time Mick and his wife Debbie had two children of their own. Counting toys is great fun, as is spotting a sneaky tail or two that may have just snuck into the picture. It's a bit longer than some of the others I've read which I do like since we're reading for 'stories' for my 2 year old granddaughter. When Kipper identifies the culprit he thinks his troubles are over - but in actual fact they are only just beginning! This the second time I've read the kipper collections by Mick Inkpen and I have enjoyed it both times. In a world where darkness often evokes ideas of evil or fear, this book is a celebration of things that are dark and beautiful—like a child’s dark skin and the night in which she plays. There are things in life that make you feel old; when the last Premiership footballer born the same year as you retires, or when their arresting officer looks like they don’t even shave.

Kipper one day notices a hole in the corner of his toy box and is instantly worried that some of his toys may be missing. Mick has won the Children's Book Award for Threadbear and the British Book Award twice, for Penguin Small and Lullabyhullaballoo. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH).He is one of today's most popular picture book author/illustrators and the famous creator of both Kipper and Wibbly Pig. Kipper will let you see the character from the start, or more doggy antics can be found in I Don't Want a Posh Dog by Emma Dodd. The children jump rope to the sounds of music as it floats through a neighbor’s window, gaze at stars in the night sky, and play hide-and-seek in the moonlight.
