About this deal

While the game is recommended for players age 10+, that shouldn’t stop you from playing with younger kids in your family. However, if that was the only way to get new cards, we’d be stuck for much of the game with low powered movement cards.

The Quest for El Dorado | Board Game | BoardGameGeek

You can choose to play with no traitor at all if you prefer, and it's still a very fun cooperative game that way.

So you're trying not to predict what your friends actually think, necessarily, but what they'll think that everyone else will think… if you see what we mean.

In 2023, Ravensburger Has a New Quest for El Dorado

While it didn’t win the award ( Kingdomino did), we’re sure it was a tough decision because it’s a great game for families. Playing is this great balance of decision making and random chance: you'll use cards from your unique hand to take actions, and each card has two different actions on – one top, one bottom. To follow up an earlier post about KOSMOS and AMIGO, German publisher Ravensburger has started to make its early 2023 game line-up public. That’s because even younger kids can match colored cards with the colored spaces they must traverse. We like to say that Cosmic Encounter is the board game equivalent of Mario Kart – practice will make you better at it, but just enough wild stuff happens in each game that a beginner always has a chance of winning, which makes it great for both first-time players and veterans.

That said, I can understand Ravensburger's hesitancy to charge ahead with the expansions at the same time as the base game. The Quest for El Dorado also works well for experienced gamers and those relatively new to the hobby too.
