About this deal

Butters for short, she has been the greatest love of his life and inspires him everyday, both creatively and emotionally. The idea of someone going through withdrawals while dealing with outlandish supernatural horror could have been used to the story’s advantage, but even so, Levy still turns in a dynamite performance, never afraid to go over the edge whether she’s inhabited by a demon or simply dealing with the evil she’s confronted with. Still, we’ve got a new generation of actors trying their darnedest to make a career and they’ve been dealt a winning hand with this film. Regardless of any of its perceived or obvious flaws, Evil Dead still manages to be as potent an experience as you could want from a horror film, modern or otherwise.

Making Life Difficult – We’re shown some of the preparations that it took to make the film and the grueling shoot that followed. With outstanding vocals that are never drowned out by the rest of the gruesome mayhem, imaging continuously feels broad and spacious with excellent convincing movement across the entire soundstage, and a robust, commanding low-end supplies a powerful oomph to the many jump scares. From nails piercing skin and blood splattering across the floor to the detailed sound of flesh being ripped apart by a piece of glass, the mid-range is extensive and precise with splendid acoustical details. Nevertheless, primaries remain accurate but are also more full-bodied than their HD SDR counterpart, especially the darker, garnet reds of blood while the oranges and yellows appear a bit more distinct and diverse.

In conclusion, "Evil Dead (2013) - Collector's Edition [4K UHD] [Blu-ray]" is a spine-chilling masterpiece that revitalizes the horror genre. It’s hard not to laugh when someone cuts off their own “possessed” hand with an electric knife or maybe I’ve seen one too many horror films. The more notable improvement is a better, strong contrast and brightness balance, supplying the gory violence with intensely brilliant whites and richer, truer blacks. Eric finds a mysterious Book of the Dead at the cabin and reads aloud from it, awakening an ancient demon.

I’ll be the first to say that the entire movie is dark and the majority of it takes place inside a dark and creepy cabin, but the image is rarely compromised. As for the unrated version, it re-institutes six minutes of additional scenes and moments, including David having to dismember Natalie in the shed with a chainsaw, Mia's mid-credits roadside pick-up, and additional and alternate gore moments. One is that red blood pops with a newfound brilliance while holding to a lifelike color presentation. The lossless mix is impressive and terrifyingly immersive, one that raises goose bumps and will have you jumping off your seat.

The cross-hatching and pixelization found on the Blu-ray of the unrated version is now gone, leaving a near perfect representation of its source. Evil Dead' debuts unto Blu-ray with a fantastic, blood-splattered 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 encode that shows some stylized cinematography as well as a couple, mostly minor artifacts. Switching gears, looking back at the original Evil Dead, it pretty much epitomizes what a “cult classic” is. Shadow delineation remains strong with impressive visibility of the finer details within the darkest corners and the many poorly-lit sequences, providing the 2. As we might imagine, there’s a plethora of red in the film so when someone is vomiting blood on another, we see it in the utmost clarity.

It’s not a major issue, but each presentation could benefit from slightly higher encodes on separate discs. We know that at least one of them has to make it out alive so they can do a sequel, but who will it be?Read more about the condition New: An item that is still in its original shrink wrap from the manufacturer and the original manufacturer’s seal (if applicable) has not been removed.
