I liked how while it tells the story of Evie defeating Mortimer J Mortimer it also had Evie learning facts and in turn told us the facts too. A talent that can let her HEAR the thoughts of an elephant, and make friends with a dog and a sparrow. Her class is much bigger now that evacuees have arrived and first impressions of the new headmaster would suggest that she's in for a tough term.The third star is given because it was quite exciting at the end and there are some good ideas in the book.
