About this deal

A number of factors determine whether a subwoofer is any good or not, but the most important metric is how it sounds, so we spend a great deal of time testing audio quality. We expose the sub to a variety of different content, including films, music and video games, at varying volume levels, assessing its ability to reproduce low-end frequencies with power, accuracy and clarity. Prices valid in stores (all including VAT) until close of business on 28th November 2023. (Some of these web prices are cheaper than in-store, so please mention that you've seen these offers online.) Welcome to the home of Hi-Fi excellence, where you'll find a wide range of speaker stands designed to elevate your audio experience.

Speaker stands to combine all the aesthetic and sonic benefits of bamboo with the adaptability, strength, and stability of twin carbon steel poles. These poles consist of a 50mm front column and a 28mm rear column which features cable management. All Moseco's come with adjustable M6 floor spikes and mini gel pads that can be fitted to the top plate to protect the base of your loudspeakers. Maximum weight capacity per stand 7.5Kg. The Aperta Sub Series has a low-profile design and is compatible with front firing and side-firing subwoofers. The innovative shape allows the Aperta Sub Series to be positioned directly underneath the subwoofer cabinet without interference with the existing subwoofer feet. The Sub (Gen 3) is fairly large, and although Sonos doesn’t mention the size of the drivers, they use a force-cancelling configuration to produce deeper bass. There are also dual acoustic ports for increased low-end extension, and a pair of Class D amplifiers (although once again the actual power rating isn’t given). However, Sonos does claim the Sub (Gen 3) goes down to 25Hz. Speaker Stands are more than just a functional accessory — they’re a pivotal component in enhancing your sound quality. Raising your speakers, and stands help project sound accurately, improving its clarity and vibrancy. They also eliminate floor vibrations and offer flexibility in speaker placement, allowing you to fine-tune your audio configuration for optimal acoustics. Quality You Can Trust

Windows: If the subwoofer is placed near windows, one might find that the sound will disperse in multiple directions. Unfortunately, one might lose a lot of sound quality to the outside or a different room. If you’re running smaller speakers then a subwoofer is a must as it can fill in all the missing frequencies lost by the small speakers, think of your car, small speakers but you almost certainly have a subwoofer or two lurking behind the dash to keep that sound quality up. Bass management is the process of removing the bass element of the signal fed to each satellite speaker, and routing it instead to one or more subwoofers. In essence this is no different to a normal crossover — it's just that the bass driver happens to be housed in a separate enclosure, and there needs to be some sort of mixing facility included to combine the low-frequency contributions from at least two channels.

Power Output: The power output is one of the main things that any buyer should consider. Depending on the power, you will find out what the capabilities of your unit are. If you exceed these capabilities, it might cause distortion or warp the sound. We also try the subwoofer out in various positions around the room in which we’re testing as this has a noticeable impact on sonic performance. Subwoofers are tested using whichever connection methods they support, be they physical or wireless, and we assess how easy the sub is to incorporate into your current home audio system.IsoAcoustics isolation prevents the subwoofer vibrations from reflecting on the supporting surface, eliminating muddy bass smear and revealing greater clarity and definition. Auralex Acoustics SubDude-II platform comes next in this list. Though it is a bit expensive, it is entirely okay with the techniques and features it offers. With a large driver producing low frequencies, the subwoofer creates a large amount of energy that can excite the supporting surface, interfere with other audio components and annoy your neighbors. When I was first getting interested in all things audio, home subwoofers were rather specialist devices that were only of interest to two groups of hi-fi enthusiasts: those who listened to large pipe organ recitals and those who enjoyed reggae! Things have moved on a great deal since those distant days, and today subwoofers are now considered — more for the 'domestic acceptance' factor than any potential sonic benefits — to be an almost standard part of modern hi-fi and studio monitoring systems. The Aperta Sub provides a high degree of isolation and cleans up the muddy low frequency sound, resulting in tighter bass response and greater clarity.

Don't be fooled by the size of the subwoofer. Bigger doesn't necessarily mean better, or even greater low frequency extension, although it does usually equate with louder; that business about needing to move a lot of air, again. Alignment Designed and manufactured in the UK to specifically fit the Sonos one, one SL, and gen 1 play: 1 all cable ports and buttons remain easily accessible when in use. The floor stands feature acoustic padding to eliminate audio vibrations and improve sound quality by raising your speakers from surfaces and placing them at optimal listening height. Both strong and stable they are extremely easy to set up with adjustable feet for leveling and sound dampening, the upright tube is designed for the power cable to run through creating a neat and uncluttered finish. Once the sound waves bounce off the walls that move into a new direction, which might often lead to them bouncing into one another. In our experience within our market you can’t go too far wrong with placing a subwoofer at home for movies and music, but there are a few tips to get the optimal placement. Option 1 - RCA Subwoofer Cable: You will typically connect most subwoofers to your amplifiers pre out, or dedicated subwoofer output using a subwoofer cable. The diagram shows a bass-management system. Each of the five main channels goes through a high-pass filter to remove the low-frequency element of the signal, before being passed on to the appropriate amplifier and speaker. Bass Management For the subwoofer to work properly and not be locatable, the crossover between satellite and subwoofer should be set below about 90Hz, and that means the satellite ideally needs to have a decent response down to 70Hz or so. Anything above that starts to intrude into the mid-range and the subwoofer will become locatable. The THX organisation recommends crossing over at 85Hz, and I've found that to be a good starting point in most cases. Practical Placement If you don’t like the idea of running subwoofer cables all over your living room, some brands offer optional wireless modules that pass the full-range audio signal with no latency, thus eliminating clutter. Other subs are designed to be used only as part of a wireless system. The sealed enclosure is extremely well made, and somehow SVS has managed to cram a redesigned 12in high-excursion driver and upgraded amplification into what is basically a 13in cube. The result is bass performance that’s precise, tight, musical and controlled, with a surprising amount of extension considering the SB-1000 Pro’s diminutive proportions. They fill in the bottom-end of your music with deep bass, depth and realism and transform your speaker system into a power house.

A subwoofer is very versatile. One can place it on the floor or nearly anywhere that you see fit. However, the floor type will have an effect. Our speaker stands are built to last. From the Atacama Moseco range, with its fine-tuned design and upgraded large top plates, to others in our selection, each product promises durability and performance. With speaker stands from HiFix, you’ll receive a product that fulfills your requirements and withstands years of use. Value for Money

Your subwoofer will need to be connected into your amplifier via cable, there is a preferred way to do this, but for amplifiers without a pre/subwoofer output it is still possible using option 2 below. The best advice is to keep the subwoofer to the corner of the room near the listening area, or by your front speakers. Choosing whether to add a subwoofer and then figuring out which one you need can be a daunting task, but no need to worry, our subwoofer guide will give you all the information you need and our team is on hand to help. What Is A Subwoofer & What Does It Do? It is robust and durable in that it can hold up to 90-pounds of weight. Therefore, it can hold much bigger speakers that can release punching bass. So, it is ideal for the studio or any musical concert.
