Starting with what the Rokit 8 excels in, while it has an overall decent balance, you can tell that this studio monitors has a slight love affair with its bass and low-end frequencies.

While both give an incredible amount of depth to their respective sides, the lows are given that ever so slight bump in response, making them much more satisfying to listen to when compared with other similar powered studio monitors or home DJ setups. The DesignInput and connection-wise, the new KRK Rokit 8 is fairly simplistic in what it offers. Simply put, it’s not going to be anything particularly special and is just for plugging in and connecting out to other speakers. The possibility for DSP-driven Active Room Tuning is one of the nicest features of the Rokit G4 series of studio monitors. When you link your monitor to the KRK app, which is available for both iOS and Android, you can take acoustic control to the next level with the Rokit G4 series. Using the app's real-time Room Acoustic Analyzer, you can precisely tune EQ settings to aid in optimum speaker placement and level matching. I was pretty much instantly impressed with the sound of the KRK Rokit 8 G2's. While I've certainly heard a lot of pairs of better sounding studio monitors, considering the size and price of these, it's definitely pretty impressive. They're fine for uses of all types in home studios, but not professional mixing. They're fine for mixing at home but if you're a pro, they're not going to be adequate. They have a pretty good bass response for their size, but still do leave something to be desired down low when compared to larger monitors, which of course is to be expected... KRK have added a couple of new two-way active monitors to their range, both of which provide full coverage of the audio spectrum in a nearfield format. Both also feature the same one-inch soft-dome tweeter and a bass/mid-range driver that utilises an aramid glass-fibre cone, the main difference being that the smaller monitor has a five-inch bass/mid-range driver, while the larger has an eight-inch bass/mid-range driver. As you might imagine, this allows the larger Rokit 8 to produce more level and to reproduce lower frequencies, the quoted response being 45Hz-20kHz ±1.5dB. The smaller five-inch unit still manages a respectable 53Hz-20kHz ±2dB, so either will cover the normal musical spectrum very adequately.Precision is the brand’s aim with recent improvements, such as those found with the upgraded V Series monitors. Those enhancements have also been integrated into the KRK ROKIT G4s, launched in 2019, which now come with impressive control features around their frequency response. I did have to return these once as I blew one speaker out. I am not sure if it was a manufacturer's defect or my own error, but Guitar Center has a generous 30 day no questions asked return policy. Upon buying my second pair I opted for the Pro Coverage which extends my warranty to a few years.

Last but not least, the Rokit 8 G4 has a pretty impressively sized bass front-facing port at the bottom of the speaker. The KRK Rokit Powered 8 G2 are studio monitors that are powered and made to give a high performance sound all in an affordable speaker for the home musician. I have used these many of times and have never had a bad mix out of them. They have dual power amps in each speaker and a very accurate response curve so it is easy to hear everything that is going on in my mixes. I did have to move them around a lot before I was comfortable with the sound or before I found the “sweet spot” in my studio. The low-end frequencies are handled by an 8-inch Kevlar cone woofer in the KRK Rokit 8 G4. A 1-inch kevlar dome tweeter is used to supplement the lower frequencies. Each driver in a bi-amped arrangement has its own amp to regulate output. The frequency response ranges from 36Hz to 40 kHz. The additional low-end depth helps to the pleasing bass response. There is still enough of space in the high-end for optimal clarity. Options for Tuning The new KRK Rokit 8 G4, while not the cheapest option out there, is a well-priced set of studio reference monitors that outright excels in just about everything it’s involved in.System-optimized auto-limiter / Prevents unexpected peaks from damaging the speakers and provides consistency and clarity at high volumes Those Kevlar drivers, synonymous with the brand’s high-end monitors, are brought to the ROKITs range for the first time and do a superb job. The audio remains distortion-free even if you start to crank these speakers.

The G4s, like KRK's flagship V Series monitors, employ the same Kevlar material for the woofer and tweeter due to its stiffness and high strength-to-weight ratio. Using the same materials to convey all frequencies, according to KRK, results in a more uniform response and a natural tonal balance, resulting in less listener fatigue. Firstly despite some of the hate out there these sound good. If you are looking for nice sounding speakers at this price you could do a lot worse. Here, we’ll take a look at what the studio monitor has to offer and if it can truly deliver on its promise as a premier and dynamic sound producer. Are the KRK Rokit 8 G4 Speakers any Good? (in short) On a brighter note they do sound great and the hissing is almost not audible when playing any noise trough them. if you wanted a quiet pair of speakers this is not it.If you're searching for an 8-inch monitor, the Yamaha HS8 is a great option. A producer's ideal is the ultra-flat response. Despite a weaker low-end, this is an excellent choice for analytical listening. Without a doubt, the sound is the most important quality when it comes to good speakers. Yes, design and build are vitally important, but, without audio integrity, you’re just sitting there with a very pretty box in front of you. Pretty much, from an audio quality perspective, the only area that is weaker is the fact that those who are listening for that flat, non-colored, response.
