About this deal

Best book I’ve read this year, incredible story with a double twist, amazing, unforgettable and brilliant. You must read it– KD JK Rowling, who was shortlisted for the novel of the year award for Career of Evil, the third book she’s written under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, sent a message of support for McDermid, declaring her “the Queen of Crime”. Slowly, Jenna begins to glimpse the potential for happiness in her future. But her past is about to catch up with her, and the consequences will be devastating . . .” Goodreads What I Loved About It Crime novelist Val McDermid was also a winner, presented with an award for her outstanding contribution to the genre. McDermid is most noted for creating the Tony Hill and Carol Jordan series, which was adapted as the TV drama Wire in the Blood, and for her characters journalist Lindsay Gordon and the private investigator Kate Brannigan. DI Ray Stevens is tasked with seeking justice for a mother who is living every parent’s worst nightmare. Determined to get to the bottom of the case, it begins to consume him as he puts both his professional and personal life on the line.

Another sweltering month in Charlotte, another boatload of mysteries past and present for overworked, overstressed forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan. The community of writers and readers at [the festival] is unlike any other in its warmth and generosity and so this means a huge amount to me,” McDermid said. “This year sees the publication of my 30th novel and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate that.” How does theauthor pull the wool over the reader's eyes in preparation for the first major twist? How did you feel when you reachedit? My top book of the last 5 years, twisty, turny, impossible to put down, stays with you. HIGHLY recommended– CatherineForget about solving all these crimes; the signal triumph here is (spoiler) the heroine’s survival. Not only I but more friends than I could have believed possible have read I Let You Go and loved it. Best book of 2015– Betty Some of the scenes in I Let You Go present a high level of violence. Are these sections hard to read? Are they necessary for the story? Why did the author include them? From the beginning the story pulled at my heart strings. I am not a mother but one of my biggest fears is seeing someone I love get killed in a hit-and-run. From there I became more and more interested in the book. One strange thing that I loved, as much as the storyline itself, was what Jenna started doing for a living. It’s not a huge spoiler, but I won’t reveal it. It put a huge smile on my face and made me love the book even more.

In a split second, Jenna Gray’s world descends into a nightmare. Her only hope of moving on is to walk away from everything she knows to start afresh. Desperate to escape, Jenna moves to a remote cottage on the Welsh coast, but she is haunted by her fears, her grief and her memories of a cruel November night that changed her life forever. It’s hard to rave about this book without revealing anything. But let’s just say that I literally shrieked when I reached Part 2. And I’m the kinda person who has a resting bitch face, even while writing ‘haha’ or ‘LOL’ on social media. I love that there was such a major twist early on in the book. It made it impossible for me to put the book down.In a split second, Jenna Gray’s world is shattered. Her only hope of moving on is to walk away from everything she knows to start afresh.
