About this deal

The basic features of this watch are easy to use, but to be an expert with all the functionality you’ll need to delve into the manual. In other words, with the second method, the watch is measuring the change in barometric pressure rather than trying to map a given barometric pressure to a preprogrammed altitude. It wasn't a selling point for me at first, but it's a neat feature and again the dual LCD screen does a great job of displaying the info.

And finally, I just can’t believe that Casio actually squeezed all this functionality into a single watch, all powered by the sun. The PAW1200 series has a built-in digital compass which will indicate magnetic north (or geographic north, if you adjust the calibration for your magnetic declination), the direction the 12 o’ clock position of the watch is facing, and the angle between the 12 o’ clock position and magnetic north measured in degrees.

In addition, this watch also comes with an altimeter, built-in compass, weather forecasting, and a second time zone. Al final de cuenta, la conectividad no es algo que realmente haga falta, para eso ya está el teléfono inteligente o los satelitales. I’ve never met or spoken to one, but from seeing a succession of Casios over the years, and the relentless way that they keep improving, every single time, I have to think that they like what they do. It appears to have all the features attributed to the others but additionally remains calibrated with the US atomic clock signal and has a solar rechargable battery.

While in barometric mode, the secondary LCD is used as a pressure differential pointer which indicates the relative difference between the current barometric reading, and the previous reading. The Casio ProTrek Pathfinder is the ultimate go-to outdoor watch that can keep with any outdoor adventures you enjoy. I use the Casio to get me oriented in the right direction, the Brunton for sighting course/headings, the GPS for marking waypoints, and the map of course for reference. The range of the watch’s altimeter is -700 to 10,000 meters, or -2,300 to 32,800 feet (both meters and feet are supported). This Pathfinder is mid-line for Casio, lacking only the radio-set functionality of the more expensive versions. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Fully charged, and with the power-saving function enabled, the battery will power the watch for about five months with no light. Not only does the PAW1200 series measure your altitude, but it will also let you save records of your ascents and descents.

I've got a number of much more expensive watches (and even a PAW-1300), but I find that most of the time, I grab the PAG-40.The altimeter feature utilises a pressure sensor to make accurate readings of your current elevation level. When watch geeks are in the presence of watch geeks – show this awesome tool off – when women are around you can hide it under your sleeve unless you are hiking or doing outdoors activities (then you might look cool, or at least well prepared). As you might have guessed, the “Baro” in its name refers to the barometer sensor incorporated in the watch, which helps to monitor weather changes and air pressure. If you are looking for a sleek yet sporty watch that can keep up with all your outdoor adventures, the Suunto 9 Baro Titanium SS050149000 is the right option for you. That was until we came across this stylish option by Makr, an elegant sleeve that gives you a solid protection for your frames.
