About this deal

This book features 71 new monsters and, as is inevitable with giant-related creatures, the CR is skewed towards the upper end of the spectrum. Among the various types of giants, including cloud giants, fire giants, frost giants, hill giants, stone giants, and storm giants, there exists a structured social hierarchy known as the ordning. Each giant is assigned a rank within this caste system, determining their social standing and relationships with others. Some giants dedicate their lives to excelling in the qualities valued by their society, seeking to rise within the ordning. The only issue I see with most of this information is giants will have to be a huge part of your campaign for you to start worrying about how many giants live together in a settlement versus a steading. To add further variety, Giants also aren’t the only creatures you’ll run into. Glory of the Giants introduces plenty of Giant-adjacent creatures, from elementals to humanoids to Giant geese and tics. Existing Giants in the Monster Manual also get new variants to keep things fresh (many of which involve cults, rune magic, or the undead). The bestiary is the real treasure at the heart of this book, with over 70 DnD monsters to work with.

While they’re often viewed as heretical within the ordning, Evil Water giants will often keep their allegiance a secret and attempt to push their communities toward the behaviors that appease Olhydra’s lust for violence. For their service, Olhydra grants her giants the ability to breathe water, making them a threat on land as well as underwater.

The “enclaves” are short, easily digestible adventures that will be easy to slot into campaigns, especially when combined with the encounter tables in the previous chapter. Because the power of their runes allows frost giant ice shapers to easily ascend to leadership roles in their enclaves, there’s a great opportunity to use one as the larger threat among an already challenging group of giants. We will not include 3rd-party content, including content from DMs Guild, in handbooks for official content because we can’t assume that your game will allow 3rd-party content or homebrew. We also won’t cover Unearthed Arcana content because it’s not finalized, and we can’t guarantee that it will be available to you in your games. Unfortunately, these well-designed and thought-out locations are somewhat marred by the fact that the “adventure” suggestions in each location don’t have any ties to CR, which will make these resources difficult to use for newer DMs who rely on that level of guidance. At the end of the day, Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giantsis quite comparable to Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons, which is a solid book full of useful information when wanting to incorporate a certain monster type into your campaign. This feat has a number of solid options that can boost the power of any Strength-based martial character. Unfortunately, the DC of the save abilities is limited to Strength or Constitution, which can limit its effectiveness for Dexterity builds. Strike of the Giants 5e Interactions However, in my opinion, I prefer setting sourcebooks, like Mythic Odysseys of Therosor Van Richter’s Guide to Ravenloft, to monster-focused supplements such as these. Because gaining access to these feats works differently from other feats, such as those in the 2014 Player’s Handbook, they require a little bit of additional examination to determine how to best use them. Big Things Are In Store

Varied though these monsters be, most of them have one thing in common: a hefty challenge rating. This, combined with encounters designed for levels 11 and onwards, means Glory of the Giants mainly caters to high-level D&D parties. In Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants, your party can go all in with adventures featuring one of Dungeons & Dragons’ most iconic primordial powers, the giants. Explore the realms and enclaves of the giants themselves, take a deeper dive into their lore, and face off against a new bestiary of massive monsters in this book. Some giants decide to shun their peers’ gods and turn to deities outside of societal norms, seeking power to defy their position in the ordning, a grave transgression against the ordning that results in social ostracism. Fee-fi-fo-fum! Evil Water cultists fit incredibly well into a seafaring campaign, either as a baddie to face off against at the end of a quest or even as a particularly brutal enemy that emerges during a random encounter. Imagine your players’ surprise when one of these harpoon-bearing brutes rises up from under the tides. Olhydra’s goal is to flood the world and plunge it all into her nightmarish, icy depths, a scenario the party would likely wish to avoid by defeating her brutal servants. Frostmourn
