About this deal

Despite all these things, this drone even when it crashes sometimes do not get any major damage as it is designed to give you the best flight experience. This drone has the feature of automatically shutting down in case of accidents. There are certain other features available to make the flight experience better and comfortable. I would definitely suggest purchasing more batteries as flying this drone for just 12 minutes will not fulfill your flying needs. If however, you buy the power edition you can expect a flight time of around 30 minutes. To top it all off, the integrated 720p HD camera which can work for both Android and iOS allows you to capture all the fun and send the footage directly to the connected device. Additionally, via the AR FreeFlight app, you can upload your videos directly to YouTube. Although the Mambo will suit anyone new to drones and for almost any purpose, it is very much marketed towards drone racers and there is even a dedicated Mambo Racing Club where you can join racing events with other Mambo owners.

When it comes to piloting the X4 it is perfect for beginners and more advanced pilots. There is a 1 key return to home feature, follow me and altitude hold as standard, the addition of GPS to this quadcopter is what really seals the deal – it works brilliantly too. The 1080p full HD onboard camera is excellent and provides you with the ability to take some excellent footage. When the drone is stable with altitude hold you can get some simply stunning shots and they record on an SD card which is handy for extra storage. The drone is fairly large (just over half a metre each way) and feels very sturdy and our first impression was one of quality – it has a good quality feel to it. App-I spent the 4 dollars to get the 'Directors Mode' of the app, which is only on IOS. It promises better control, smoother flight, blah blah blah...all things that should have been part of the basic app if you ask me. I tried, but could never get it to work with my iPad. The basic Android app is slow and unresponsive, which is not qualities I look for when something is spinning around my head. Despite repeated flat trimming and re-caibration, the copter doesn't follow commands, leading to high-anxiety situations. It's not just the controls; on both app platforms, you have to repeatedly hit the settings buttons to get into them. To lose a several hundred dollar toy becasue of a mistake, I can accept; to lose it beacsue it's not responding and going into a dangerous situation, I can not. It is difficult to fly this drone responsibly. I 'll say it again: IT IS DIFFICULT TO FLY THIS DRONE RESPONSIBLY.

The camera-I don't know how they say it's 720p. It consistently (if you can get the usb to record) looks terrible. Looks great on your phone as you fly, but looking at it on any thing bigger is terrible quality. Shame. I can’t continue with this Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 Elite Edition Quadcopter review without talking about this drones best feature the awesome HD 720P camera. If you are looking take decent-quality aerial film footage but do not want to pay the price of a DJI phantom model, look no further than this quadcopter. The onboard 720p HD camera has a 93-degree field of view and records video at 30 FPS and directly sends the footage to a connected HD device. The most noticeable omission at this stage is that there is no controller – something you should be aware of if you are buying this drone. Parrot have not been quiet about this and have largely marketed this range of drones around the smartphone connectivity for years now. You will need to operate the drone from a smartphone or tablet which we will discuss in more detail shortly.

The Parrot AR Drone 2.0 Elite Edition is one of two different UAVs – Unmanned Aerial Vehicles – in the Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 line. The Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 Elite Edition is a more inexpensive version, while their Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 Power Edition has a longer running time and a few differing features. The downfall of this drone is that it can only be used with a smartphone or tablet. It connects to its own WiFi, which limits the flight, and can have a poor connection. FlightThe app itself is well designed and has all the functionality that you would expect from a drone controller. Although we found the app to be pretty well designed and very easy to use we did miss the feel of a real controller in our hands. Added to this that there is the ever so slight lag between using the controls and the reaction on the drone – probably due to the fact that the controller communicates with the drone using WiFi rather than through the usual radio frequencies more commonly used. The AR FreeFlight App,which is parrots official drone app, allows you to pilot this device quite easily the app also comes with a myriad of advanced controls such as limiting the drones speed and attitude.

It takes a lot of energy to keep a drone aloft, and that means you'll be swapping or charging batteries about every 10 minutes. A full charge on the battery gives the AR.Drone 2.0 about 12 minutes of flight, which isn't very impressive but on par with other remote controlled drones. The battery charges with the included AC adapter, and it takes approximately an hour and a half to fully charge. The AR.Drone 2.0 Power Edition comes with two higher-capacity batteries that give you combined 36 minutes of flying time, but unless you're willing to invest in either the Power Edition or additional batteries your flights will have to be short and sweet.

The specs of the Parrot include a powerful ARM Cortex A8 1GHz processor and it has 1GB of DDR2 RAM. The camera is pretty sufficient for basic use as the Parrot sports a 720p 30FPS HD camera with a 92 degree wide angle lens. It also sports a second (more basic) camera that points vertically which captures video in QVGA at 60FPS. Here, in this section, you will get to know briefly about the design and build quality of the drone. The design of this drone is very unique and when you experience it yourself, you will surely be mesmerized. There are certain awesome features included that makes it the best in this price segment.
