About this deal

In addition to reducing waste, if you're a bottled water or soda fiend, a SodaStream machine can help you save money in the long run. SodaStream's gas cylinders, which are made of brass and aluminium, contain Carbon Dioxide (CO2), 75% of which is water. Due to the fact that liquid CO2 cannot exist at normal atmospheric pressure, it has to be stored in the canister at high pressure.

This significantly impacts the environment, even if you’re making an effort to recycle your water bottles and cans. It’s not just the soda maker itself that is designed with care; you’ll also find that the PET bottle is purposefully made with non-toxic chemicals.

5. Best soda syphon: Beaumont Soda Syphon

While the SodaStream brand is synonymous with the original delicious sparkling water machine, which could help you save 1300 bottles and cans a year, it's no longer the only name in the game for anyone looking for homemade fizzy drinks or sparkling water. After filling it with water to the max line, pressing the magic carbonator button and tasting our fizzy creation, we immediately went into mad scientist-mode and grabbed as many drinks as possible to try out. In terms of the actual design, we weren't blown away by the appearance as it is quite basic, but as it's lightweight and portable, it would make a great camping companion. Once the CO2 cylinder arrived - it's compatible with most 60mm cylinders from well-known brands - we followed the instructions in the User Guide to get going.

Once you’ve inserted your CO2 cylinder into the tower, the exciting bit can begin… Just add tap water up to the fill line of your carbonation bottle, screw it onto the head of your Carbonator 3 and push the stainless steel lever down until the drinks maker makes a satisfying buzz. Then release the lever, unscrew the bottle and seal it till you need it – making fizzy drinks for friends and family couldn’t be easier. And with three independent safety valves inside, it couldn’t be safer, either. Expertly designed from the inside outwards, the slim-line good looks and high-quality stainless steel construction of the Aarke Carbonator have already earned it a cult following around the world and this, the third generation, has been created to be even more efficient than its predecessors. Our favourite feature of Aarke's carbonator was definitely the posh lever that allows you to control the pressure of the CO2 for a super smooth experience, and there are no splashes when you remove it. The lever system bases the amount of carbonation on how far and long you pull the handle down. It also automatically releases any extra pressure within the bottle when you let go of the lever. In other soda maker systems, there’s a second step of tipping the water bottle to release the pressure, so it’s nice that this is a single action here.

How long does SodaStream gas last?

Aarke soda makers are designed to be easy to use. Just insert a CO2 cylinder into the tower, add tap water up to the fill line of your carbonation bottle and screw it into the machine. Push the stainless steel lever down until you hear a buzz, then release the lever, unscrew the bottle and seal it. Canisters of CO2 are available separately and Aarke carbonators are compatible with the 60-litre SodaStream gas cylinders we sell online, and the recycled canisters we sell in store. Built to last

Aarke Carbonator 3, Sparkling Water Maker with Water Bottle

SodaStream claims that it has made more than 70 million of these canisters since it introduced the aluminium version to the market two decades ago, and that not a single one of them has ever failed. Are SodaStreams bad for the environment? Although it doesn’t come with a gas cylinder included, your Aarke Carbonator is compatible with the SodaStream 60 Litre Gas Cylinders we sell online and in store, as well as CO2 cylinders from AGA, Linde and many other manufacturers. And if you live near a Lakeland store, you can also use our cheaper SodaStream Recycled 60 Litre Gas Cylinders too – in which case you’re only paying for the gas refill – and helping to recycle the canister. Developed to work perfectly with Aarke carbonators, the brand’s Flavour Drops come in a variety of flavours, like sweet Wild Strawberry and refreshing Cucumber and Lime. Sugar free and made with natural flavourings, just add five drops of Aarke flavouring to a glass of freshly carbonated water and enjoy. Each 50ml recyclable bottle of Flavour Drops makes up to 40 litres of flavoured fizzy water, so you can save on those trips to the shops. Accessory appeal The reason you can try anything is because there's an amazing valve that lets you release the bubbles slowly to ensure you don't create an explosion. Whenever the foam starts to rise, you close it, then repeat until all the CO2 has been released and your beverage is ready. One of the primary benefits of a soda maker is reducing your waste. If you’re someone that enjoys carbonated drinks, you’re likely purchasing single-use plastic bottles or aluminum cans.

Not sure which to go for? We've rounded up eight of the best water carbonators and SodaStreams for 2022. Compared to your average carbonator, the SodaStream Spirit Machine is really quiet and you can't even hear the CO2 being released when you detach your bottle from the machine.

When we first tried this out, we pressed the button down for two seconds twice upon first use, but that wasn't enough for properly fizzy water, so we pushed the button down about six times which managed to give us a refreshing level of bubbles. It depends on how you look at it. 60 litres of carbonated water — the amount that a single CO2 canister produces — made with a SodaStream is far better for the environment than the same amount bought from the supermarket in plastic bottles or cans. However, the environmental costs of the production and travel of CO2 canisters, while not eye-widening, mean that water made using a SodaStream is worse for the environment than tap water. Where to exchange SodaStream gas bottles Carbonators turn standard liquids into carbonated liquids. When you carbonate water with soda makers, you do so by adding gas to the water, producing sparkling water. Ideal for garden parties, mobile home owners and off-grid holidays, because the carbonation is created solely by the gas cylinder, you don’t need to plug your Aarke Carbonator in to create fizzy drinks, so you can make them anywhere you’re happy to take the carbonator.

This design isn’t just about appearances – it also means that the product is much more durable than other options on the market. Designed for efficiency as well as good looks, the sleek polished steel tower of the Aarke Carbonator 3 will not only look fabulous on any kitchen counter, it’ll allow you to make your favourite sparkling drinks at home, too. The original sparkling water maker from AARKE is the AARKE Carbonator I. It is the best sparkling water maker. This particular model is designed using stainless steel, which offers a refined and sleek aesthetic for your kitchen countertop.
