After working on the column for years, Blyton quit "Teachers World" in 1945 and also ended her stint as editor of "Sunny Stories" seven years later. Amelia Jane is a very naughty doll and is constantly getting into trouble with the other toys in the nursery. Toys tend to fall over when snowballs are chucked at them so life is not all that good for the clockwork-mouse and the clown, not to mention the curly-haired doll. It does, and the clockwork mouse suffers the most, but at least Amelia Jane does her best to neutralize the danger. In fact, it must be her 'water' phase because the next thing she does is to spurt the curly-haired doll by holding her fingers over the washbasin tap.

Blyton's first full length children's book was published din 1938 and was titled "The Secret Island. Do you know, she once put a bee in a matchbox and handed it to the sailor doll when he wanted some matches to light his pipe! She was educated in a private school and thought that she would become a musician until she realized that writing was her passion.
