About this deal

Batman was a 15-chapter serial film released in 1943 by Columbia Pictures and was the first appearance of the comic book character on film. Over the years, there have been numerous others to assume the name of Batman, or to officially take over for Bruce during his leaves of absence.

That story prompted editor Whitney Ellsworth to decree that the character could no longer kill or use a gun.
