About this deal
The A20a 2022 does not have the abnormal noise from the power supply unit or the abnormal noise of the speaker output that I reported on the Sabaj A20a. I have previously pointed this issue to several manufacturers in China, but they didn't have any knowledge of Taper A and Taper B and couldn't understand my point. Only Chinese manufacturers use Tapered B for volume pots for volume control in the world. The color display screen and user-friendly operating system are easy to understand, equipped with full-function remote control function;
This is my second amp based on this chip. I had already reviewed a fully symmetrical dual Mono MA12070 that I had built a few months ago. Similarly, there is no fluctuation in the DC offset voltage of the speaker output and pop noise that I reported in SMSL DA-9.Standby power consumption.........................................................................<0.5W Since I'm basically "throwing the book" of measurements at this device, we can see that certain characteristics are the result of the ESS DAC chip itself. For example the "hump" (THD and IMD) between -45 to -25dBFS or so, and the sinusoidal pattern of odd harmonic distortions when examined in very close detail with 0.1dB steps using a low-noise notch filter.
The output power of the A20a 2022 is 170W (4Ω) / 90W (8Ω). It has more than double the output power of AO200 / DA-9 / SA300 / PA3. High output is possible with a dual power supply with a power supply voltage of + -34V (total 68V) for the MA5332MS chip. If you feel power shortage with AO200 / DA-9 etc., A20a 2022 is the best choice.THD+N ................................................................................................0.0008% I can't say for sure about the sound quality yet, but it is a very clear and high quality sound similar to AO200. I feel that the bass has become a little stronger. So, I'm very happy so far! I'd love to know how this measures. Or maybe not, 'cause I'll be slightly sadder if it bombs. SBC ..............................................................................16bit/44.1 kHz_328kbps In fact the amp is using exactly the same components as the SMSL DA 9. The design is just different.
BT is equivalent to SMSL AO200 / DA-9. It is a little inferior to the BT of the latest DAC. It seems that the BT module uses a product with a lower grade than the DAC.Channel separation .....................................................................................90dB Using the latest DSP chip with ST high-power amplifier chip, carefully designed and debugged, its distortion is as low as 0.0008%; USB transmission ....................................................................Asynchronization Low pass cutoff frequency...................................................................70~200Hz The volume control of A20a 2022 adopts the conventional volume pot, and I am worried about the gang error when the volume is turned down. SMSL AO200 / DA-9 / SA300 etc. use JRC's NJW1194 electronic volume, so there is no gang error. Also, by using NJW1194, you can use the EQ function and tone control built into the chip, but the A20a 2022 does not have these functions.
Weight ..........................................................................................3.3kg/7.28lbs All aluminum alloy CNC processing technology, using anodizing technology, fine workmanship, first-class touch; Notice that I've turned on the "Peak" tracing as well to capture the highest values across the 8-average readings. Not unusual to see some 60Hz mains hum with harmonics getting into the measurements with unbalanced connections. We're basically looking at -110dB RCA and -120dB XLR noise floor and distortions otherwise.Just received the new Sabaj A20. This a brand new class D amp made with a dual Infineon Merus MA12070 and fully balanced.
