About this deal

A rotating sprinkler will generally have some adjustable spray settings. You may be able to alter the rotation speed and power. However, you can’t generally change the spray patterns much. As you can imagine, this isn’t the cheapest sprinkler set-up, and they’re also time-consuming to install. Nevertheless, they’re a good option for regularly watering the lawn and established plants. Size of Coverage When buying a rectangular sprinkler, opt for a model that offers an area coverage of at least 200 m² . Realistically, most sprinklers fall short of their advertised area coverage – unless you have excellent water pressure – but 200 m² is a good indication of their power. These sprinklers will generally be able to spread water up to 20- 25 metres.

One thing you have to be aware of if you’re considering this sprinkler, is that it ships from the USA, and so there’s a waiting time for delivery and you might end up with some extra charges for importing. Personally, I think it’s worth the wait because you’ll end up with a really solidly built sprinkler, with ¾” coupling which allows for better water flow. For such a low price, you can’t expect to get all the adjustment options of the Gruntek, Aqua joe, or Karcher sprinklers. In fact, the only real control you have over the coverage with this model is to turn down the water pressure at the tap.

If you’ve got enough pressure this sprinkler will reach a range of 20m, either side, and even at a relatively lowly two bar of pressure you should reach up to 16m away. With a maximum coverage of 320m, it’s a great choice for keeping larger gardens watered. We also consider how easy it is to change the range or the spray pattern, the robustness of the pipe fittings, and evaluate the stability of the sprinkler in operation – after all, nobody wants a sprinkler that won’t sit still while it waters!

Keep your lawn looking lush and your flower beds and borders watered with the best garden sprinklers, from £10 upwards

How does it work? Well, the sprinkler, which resembles a tiny 3-wheeled tractor, uses its front runner to follow any 5/8 inch hose that you lay down on your lawn. So, you could get your hands on a nice, long hose and have it running right across your lawn, even if it’s really large. Some of the best garden sprinklers have adjustable settings, so you can customise their coverage on a case by case basis. It’s useful to have a sprinkler that allows you to choose how many jets are on , as this makes it possible to change the width it covers. Equally, being able to turn the sprinkler off without turning off the tap is a real plus. They’re often quite lightweight, so may become unstable if placed on uneven ground; however, as mentioned – they can be attached to supports which helps with stability.

We have over 65years collective knowledge within our team, multiple BS9251 certified sprinkler designers and a FIRAS approved Director. Offering impressive control over flow and coverage, regardless of available pressure, this rotating sprinkler can be adjusted to work in any area of the garden. If you’re nervous about watering your neighbour’s flower beds by mistake, you can even bring down the height of the spray by reducing the available pressure. A great way to keep water bills under control – you’ll only be paying to water your own garden! Firstly, let’s start with the yellow tabs on the side. This enables you the adjust its range of motion. For me personally, this means being able to avoid unnecessarily watering my artificial grass, and instead being able to perfectly target my raised beds. Very clever.Unlike the sprinklers above, these do not oscillate or move. Most stationary sprinklers have two spray patterns: full or part circle.

Choose a sprinkler that has adjustable spray settings so that you do not waste water. In particular, it helps to be able to adjust the spray width so that you can avoid spraying paths, driveways and patios (as well as passers-by when watering the front garden!). Both of these features enable you to avoid wasting water. Good job Kärcher, as this is a smart and functional design feature. The major issue we had with the soloman is that it was a flop under low pressure, as the water has to go up the shaft to power the top. So we took it to Surrey. The idea of having your sprinkler constantly set up and ready to go is obviously enticing for most people, but at the same time the thought of having hoses permanently spread across the lawn is often off-putting. The usual comments apply: the strength of your water pressure will affect maximum coverage. Make sure that your tap doesn’t have a pressure-limiting attachment fitted, as removing this can sometimes make all the difference.

We test garden sprinklers by connecting them to a hosepipe and putting them to work on a flat garden lawn for a period of 20 minutes. We measure the range covered by the spray and look at the density and coverage of the spray pattern, to see if it leaves obvious gaps – or throws more water out in some places than in others.
