About this deal

The Way, 225-miles long (362km) and designed for multi-use, links the Ridgeway National Trail with the Trans Pennine Trail across the shires of Middle England. A guide is available from the LDWA.

There are also numerous wooden and stone stiles, along the route that might not be that easy with a larger dog (I met a couple who had had to lift their dog over a couple!) From the farm, head directly north, over another stone stile, towards Tomlinson Wood (a small wooded area). There’s then a very small stone stile to squeeze through, walk around the edge of the woods, to an opening in the dry stone wall. Stage 2 –Tomlinson Wood toBradford Dale Walking highlights - Dramatic Dovedale and its sister dales are typical of the White Peak with limestone outcrops a character of the landscape. The Manifold Valley, lying to the west of Dovedale, also has much to offer walkers including Thor's Cave perched high on the valley side. Between the Dove and Manifold valleys lies high ground, including Ecton Hill and the villages of Alstonefield and Wetton which provide a good base for Peak District walks in this area. From the road outside Elton church (with the church on your right), continue down the road, then take the path forking off left, signposted Youlgreave.

Walks for All Seasons in Derbyshire Guidebook

You’ll spot the Duke of York pub in the village, but this is only open from 8.30 pm, so no good for a post-walk drink! Walking highlights - the Great Ridge at Castleton linking Mam Tor with Lose Hill is one the great walks of the Peak District. Other attractions include Winnats Pass, Peveril Castle and Rushup Edge. An excellent for Peak District walks and very popular in good weather.

Now you simply follow the beautiful Bradford River through Bradford Dale, you’ll go past a bridge on your left, then through a gate and on to the Limestone Way. Go through the opening in the dry stone wall, between the two stone pillars (one with arrows pointing left towards Middleton and Hoppin Farm). Then head diagonally across to the boundary wall and follow the wall east to a stone stile. Bear left through the gap in the stone wall Walking is one of Britain's favourite leisure activities, and this guide to Derbyshire features 50 mapped walks from 2 to 10 miles, to suit all abilities. A 60 mile walk designed by the New Mills Group to celebrate the RA Diamond Jubilee. The landscape varies from farmland and river valleys to bleak exposed moorland in the High Peak country, circuiting Glossop and taking in Castleton, Buxton and New Mills, with a number of steep ascents. A guide is available from the Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA). After admiring the view, take the continuing path signed 'Monsal Trail and Viaduct', descending steeply on steps. Fork left at a junction towards 'Viaduct and Monsal Trail', descending to the trail at the western portal of the Headstone Tunnel. Cross the viaduct, then fork right through a gate towards 'Monsal Head via Netherdale' at a junction of bridleways. Turn right along the valley, go underneath the viaduct and through a squeeze stile.A 85 mile (137km) meandering circuit which visits many of the limestone dales, including Dove Dale, Miller’s Dale and Hay Dale and passes Chatsworth House and Park, Haddon Hall and the Castleton show caves. A guide is available from the LDWA. This circular walk from Grindleford Station is mostly flat with one short sharp ascent taking in the popular Peak District location of Padley Gorge. There are some steep drops from the cliffsnear Robin Hood’s Stride so please be careful, especially if you’re doing the walk with children.
