About this deal

What emerged is a collection of ten uplifting songs which collectively present a snapshot of pan-European music culture - and an album that journeys across the continent, influenced by French chansons, Spanish pop and English sea shanties; evoking scenes stretching from Edgware Road to Hydra Island; and painting pictures of everything from elegant Parisian cafes to drunken tourists in Magaluf to the ghosttown chill of an out-of-season holiday destination. They preview the project by sharing its lead single ‘Lonely Town’ accompanied by its official video filmed in Deia, Mallorca. As the meaning behind their label name suggests (a rough translation from Spanish as 'hill view') Loma Vista has climbed to the summit of today's musical landscape, engaging and representing a sweeping range of the most popular scenes and genres of today. When he finally headed back to London, he further developed his ideas with his friend Galen, with both bonding over a love of sparse, evocative songwriting.

Paul headed to a Mallorcan fishing village, where he spent his time writing songs and painting his impressions of the stunning locales. Ayers is a lovely singer in both English and Spanish; he rather less so on the London homage It's Another Night or the gently barbed I've Never Had A Good Time. It was produced by the legendary Tony Visconti (David Bowie, T-Rex, Sparks) with a band consisting of Simon Tong (The Verve, The Good, The Bad and The Queen), Sebastian Rochford (Polar Bear, David Byrne, Patti Smith) and Dan Donovan (Big Audio Dynamite), with Damon Albarn playing on melodica on a number of tracks. Per a press release, the album began coming together in lockdown, which Simonon spent in a Mallorcan fishing village writing music and painting. As COVID-19 restrictions lifted, he began working with local musicians and busking in front of cafes in Palma.
