About this deal

In the UK for example, I have a SMARTY Sim Card to use in my portable WiFi as they are affordable and offer decent overall coverage in London, Bristol, etc through the Three Network whilst being cheaper than Three itself. If I go to somewhere more remote like Snowdonia in North Wales, I’ll swap the SMARTY sim for an EE sim card for better signal coverage. My passion to inspire and help other travelers to travel the world turned into a lifestyle. When I started this travel blog I never though it would give me the freedom to travel the world, whenever and wherever. So what started as a passion ended up in a dream coming true... The sim card vending machines at London Heathrow Airport are also from Sim Local and they sell the exact same prepaid sim cards as they sell in their stores. In the sim card vending machines as well as at the Sim Local stores you can buy UK prepaid sim cards from: Lycamobile, EE and Three. Buying a sim card for the UK on arrival at London Heathrow Airport or getting an e-sim card for the UK is easy and takes just a couple minutes.

o2: O2 is another good network, they have good 5G + 4G coverage in most cities and are great if you’re visiting London. I also found they had really good coverage throughout York and North Yorkshire. I don’t really recommend them for other rural areas though as I’ve found them to have a bad signal around the South West of England, and Wales. o2 Is a lot cheaper than EE though, so if you’ll be in a city like London or York I recommend buying a sim card from o2 to save on money. In this complete guide for buying a UK sim card at London Heathrow Airport you can find where to buy a sim card, up to date prices as perOctober 2023, my recommendation, the best e-sim cards for the UK, a vlog of my experiences on arrival, info about international sim cards for the UK and more. EE Pay Monthly: If you’re an EE Pay Monthly customer with the Roam Abroad Pass, you’ll be able to roam at no extra cost when you’re travelling in Canada. This is available as a Smart Benefit on EE’s All Rounder and Full Works plans. Here’s a list of UK networks that offer prepaid sim optionsand support roaming at no extra cost as of June 2023:

You may also find sim cards in the phone operator stores. Most cities have stores for Three, O2, Vodafone and EE. You won’t find stores for GiffGaff, Asda or Smarty. Tesco has its own phone stores in some of the larger stores. You can roam on a UK-based SIM card. This is probably the easiest way to use your mobile phone in Canada. You’ll have a UK-based phone number (+44) and you’ll pay your UK mobile network for the usage. You can buy UK sim cards from 5 different mobile internet providers at London Heathrow: Lycamobile, Three, Vodafone, EE and O2. Many shops sell the same prepaid sim cards, but at different prices. Find out below where to get the cheapest prepaid sim card at London Heathrow Airport. The following table shows a side-by-side comparison of these three options: Roaming on your UK SIM card VOXI by Vodafone, the mobile network for young people, offers plans that let you use selected social and video apps as much as you like, without eating into your general data allowance. VOXI plans have been designed with flexibility in mind – customers can enjoy their plans contract-free, putting them in control of their spending, with no surprises. Having access to your mobile phone in Canada makes it easy to stay in touch with friends and family when you travel. It’s also helpful for finding your way around (e.g. with directions on Google Maps) and for calling a taxi, your hotel, or a nearby restaurant for reservations. The disadvantage of choosing an eSIM is the fact you’re getting a data-only service. This means you’ll need to use your normal SIM card for calling and texting, with all of the usual roaming fees that will apply for doing that. For that reason, it’s unlikely to be very much cheaper than roaming on a good UK SIM card such as VOXI’s Pay As You Go SIM. You should note that 5G coverage is currently reserved for post-paid (contract) customers in Canada. If you’re roaming on a UK SIM card, using a prepaid Canadian SIM card or eSIM, you’ll be restricted to a maximum of 4G coverage. More Information

One great thing about the EU is that you can use one country’s mobileplan allowance, in other EU countries at no extra cost (subject to data limits). This used to include the UK, but since Brexit, most networks in the UK have changed their rules and some now charge for EU roaming. The EE prepaid sim cards at London Heathrow Airport are the only ones that are NOT 5G ready, also EE does not include any free EU data roaming, that makes it very easy for Traveltomtom to not recommend EE sim cards. Also prices for EE sim cards are much higher than other sim cards at London Heathrow. If you can I really recommend buying a prepaid UK sim card online before you get to the UK, as this is so much less stressful than having to hassle with going to a store to buy a sim card.
