About this deal

After a few months had passed, there was talk about the women writing a book about what they had gone through. Immediately I made a decision that I wouldn’t read any of their books. I just couldn’t bear to read –let alone imagine what had happened over the eleven-year period. However, while searching for my next read, I stumbled upon Michelle’s memoir. Something tugged at my heart, and I knew I had to read her story. I find myself confusing her captivity with prison. She doesn't notice. "Is it true you were made pregnant five times when you were in prison?" Extended: Interview with Family of kidnapping victim Gina DeJesus". Global News. May 8, 2013. Michele was raised in a house where psychic ability was accepted and considered normal. As a three year old, Michele would attend healing circles that met in her family living room and soon displayed an extraordinary aptitude with the tarot cards that her mother used on a daily basis to read for the many friends and visitors that poured through the house. Despite their adoration of each other, Michele’s parents endured a tempestuous marriage, generating an atmosphere of constant tension and drama, but Michele was always comforted by the invisible presence of someone called Lucy who acted as her friend, confidant and guide during her most difficult hours. As part of the plea bargain, the house where Castro had lived and held the women captive was demolished on August 7, 2013. Knight was present and handed out yellow balloons to spectators, which she said represented missing children. The balloons were released before DeJesus's aunt began the demolition with a swing of a crane. [130] [131] [132] The house has been completely blurred out on the street view of Google Maps. [133] Castro's death [ edit ] Sentencing for sexually violent predator specification". LAWriter – ORC. Archived from the original on May 13, 2013 . Retrieved May 13, 2013. According to Castro's uncle, his family knew the DeJesus family and had lived in the same neighborhood. [32] Castro falsely claimed that he was not aware that DeJesus was a member of that family when he abducted her. [74] Captivity [ edit ] I gave this book a high rating, not because it was a great literary work or because it was such a good story, but because Michelle Knight was an incredible young woman. This was a horrible story and at times a very difficult book to read and yet as in the stories of Louis Zamperini (Unbroken), and Amanda Lindhout, (A House in the Sky), Michelle showed amazing fortitude, hope, courage, love and forgiveness. I would like to think I could survive great hardship if need be, yet I know at my best I couldn't come close to enduring what these people did and then live to forgive the offenders. In fact, Knight had been offered a ride by Castro on that fateful August day. As she knew one of his daughters, Knight accepted the lift. She then agreed to enter Castro's Cleveland home, located at 2207 Seymour Avenue, when he promised to give her a puppy for her son. Once inside, Knight was restrained and imprisoned. It was the beginning of years of torture.
